To think you basically gave up Ted Richards for Richard Cole - both traded for very similar picks. Oh well, you cant win them all.

We also got Dempsey, was it Cook you drafted who hasn't done much?

Some are just hopeful that he can turn it around. There's nothing to suggest he will, but plenty indicate its over for Cole...at Essendon at least.

Cook's coming along ok. He was a young-aged recruit last year so will take another 18 months or so before we know how good he is. We were happy to get anything for Cole in a trade, so if Cook succeeds its a bonus.

Richard's wanted to play in the forward line, we couldn't offer that, we were more than happy with a first round draft pick, he aint that good.

We were also happy to get a player with finals experience who wanted to play for our club, it may not work out, we'll move on.

We could've kept Ted, except for the fact that he requested to be traded. There's a chance Dempsey would've gone before pick 23, so I think we did ok. For us, if Cole succeeds it will be a bonus.

As for Ted, not really missing him. He'd have always been the backup kpp, never the first choice. Fits in at the Swans, so it seems to have been for the best.

I'm just sitting on the outside looking in, seeing Richards just about bog for the Swans on GF Day and getting a regular game at one of the best two teams in the land, while Richie Cole is getting sent to the fat farm and struggling to get a kick at Bendigo.

So at face value it seems you went backwards.

We tried to keep Ted but he wanted to go so i dont know how you can say we could have kept him. When someone offer a round one pick for an average footballer i guess you take it. Not sure what all of this has to do with Cole as we would have traded our second round pick for him regardless of the Richards situation.

He is getting a regular game with the Swans. But where would he fit into Essendons team? We already have more than enough tall backs and forwards. We needed mids and thats what we got in return for Ted.
