How's Richards recovering from OP?

If not, would we be in the widening queue for a PSD ruckman? Keating bashed us out of a g/final or two. Not sure his bashing would suit our defensive midfield set up?

Any other takers? But I really hope Richards will be our ruck goods in 05.

We don't need another ruckman with Fraser, Rocca, CCloke capable of providing relief in the ruck. With regards to Richards I still think he hasn't proven to be our number one ruckman yet so I think he will spend the majority of the year as a relief ruckman for Fraser. Although Fraser struggles at centre bounces their are few ruckman can match him around the ground but I'm hopeful Richards can step up and become a regular so Josh can spend more time in the forward line this season.

In regards to the PSD I think we could use another midsize forward to help out Tarrant, Rocca, Didak and Davis. Tim Notting anyone?

Tim Notting absolutely. Couldn't see it happening though. Would be happy with McGrath if that was to eventuate.

I'm skeptical about drafting teams 5th or so midfielder. Especaily when that team is successful as their form in a succesful team may not be a true indicator of their talent.

Given the absolute strength of the Lions midfield drafting McGrath may not be such a bad thing. He comes without losing anyone or a draft pick and would not cost us too much in salary.

Back on topic, if Keating were available he wouldn't be too bad a pickup. However I think our ruck stocks are ok. We made a GF in 2002 and 2003 on a losing ruck so it can't be too vital to our chances getting another ruckman. Our priority must be to strengthen the midfield.

10 games of Keating was all that Brisbane needed. And Port also thought unsensibly outside the square making chnages to snare their first afl flag.

But yep, McGrath does seem the most sensible target for us to snare. But since we don't rank high in the snaring stakes in the past, is there anyone else in the PSD worth even trying to snare if McGrath also slips through, or shall we just use pick 50-odd in the national draft for a kid of the future?

That's what has turned me off Keating, I agree about going after McGrath.
