I hate to sound arrogant but this is one matchup we will definetly win if he goes to the wing. Does it mean we will beat you? Shit no, but you can't stop Richo, he will get another 16-20 touches and 12+ marks.

I love this thread.......

It clearly shows how arrogant some of your supporters are.... Your not even considering Axel, Simmo, whitety, Delideo..... Which for me is great...

I love the fact the ottens is going to be back this week, No game time to speak of against Simmo who tore it up last week..... Ottens is a great ruckman but needs game time and blake is just not readfy to take on the likes of Simmo...... We get first use 3 out of every 5 balls.......

As a unit you are a better more drilled side but i urge you all not to think this is a walk over you like the other sides before you will be very supprised......

My tip. Richmond by under 10.

ur a tool, of course the side and supporters will be mildly confident going up against a side we tore up last year...

didnt simmonds have 16 hitouts the other week, with a massive ONE hitout to advantage??? wow, with those stats i hope he has a ripper game tapping it down to our midfielders...or will 'axel' single handedly beat bartel, corey and jnr?

And I love the fact that on average hitouts in the league, Mark Blake is ranked number 3 behind only Sandilands and Cox, while Simmonds is ranked number 11. Do your research.

but it's what your players do with it after they get first use that's important.Your players stuff it up and turn it over :p

Geelong should win this, there form hasnt been great, but they havnt lost a game to date this year. Will ablett play? i dont think it matter's if he does or doesnt. It can only benefit Richmond. Champion teams still win with out there best team on the park (If richmond did go onto win, watch the geelong supporters bring up "we didnt have so and so"). Hey and geelong fans if richmond do happen to get up ENJOY watching this (i know i will)

I am so confident that Geelong will win that I will eat my own shit if they dont.

IMO Matty White has played a few good games in the ones but has also played very well for coburg Kicking 2 goals against the Gellong side in round one.......

For a 3nd year player only having played 20ish games to average 14 possesions... He will break out to be another Axel type player......

When Richo plays as a key forward, he has been successfully negated in the past by smaller players, who use their footy brain. Archer had great success and Richo and Bret Thornton has had his measure a few times.

IMHO:
Geelong backline Vs Richmond fowardline
Enright/Milburn Vs Richo on the wing
Scarlo Vs Richo up foward
Scarlo Vs Polak (when richos on the wing)
Makie Vs Riewoldt/Resting Ruckman
Milburn Vs Brown (done well on him on the past, good contest)
Taylor Vs Morton (couldn't realy find another match-up, Richmond are pretty small foward, while Geelong are pretty tall back. If Bowden plays and goes foward Taylor will probably go to him)

Geelong tags:
Lings Vs Foley/Deledio
Rooke Vs Foley/Deledio (obviously depends if either Foley or Lids is playing well)

Richmond tags:
Hyde Vs Ablett/Bartel (Hyde has kept Montanga and Bateman to 13 disposals over the last two weeks,)
Tuck Vs Corey (kept Sewell and Bateman to 14, and 15 disposals respectivly the last 2 weeks while picking up a few himself)

Richmond backline Vs Geelong Richmond
Thurstfield Vs Mooney
Schultz Vs Hawkins
Moore Vs Stevie J
King Vs Chapman

Richardson is the hardest match up.

You don't have to be Einstein to work out the other match-ups, not really worth discussing or at least not as important as who will line up on your best player.

Ling will take "Axel" and tear him up. Ottens and Blake will beat Simmo who is suspect with his disposal, and who is your second ruckman (Polak?).
I dont know who whitey is but im sure that Rooke will sort him out if he creates problems and Delideo, if he plays forward will probably get Enright or Harley.

It's good to see your confident though. I think this game will be a ripper. I love watching Richo so that adds another dimension to this game for me.

Cats by 25

Thats the biggest test for Foley i think. He is a top class midfielder who doesnt get the support that your guys like Abblett pr Bartel do and he still racks up the hard ball gets and does damage. The problem is that we dont have anyone who has the brains to target the taggers and rough them up.

One would think King in the midfield would make sense too, another bloke whi wins so much contested ball.

I think your being kind with the 25 points margin too :) I think the cats will romp it home by at least 50 :( We are all heart and very little class so its going to keep catching up with us on our poor disposals.

James Kelly.

I remember last year at SS against Freo, Kelly lined up on the wing on Michael Johnson, and Kelly carved him up.

Kelly is also our most attacking, dangerous, and forward running player (i'm not counting Ablett, Chapman and SJ because they will all be closely marked whereas Kelly won't.)

Given that we should have at least the same amount, if not more, of the ball in midfield, Kelly should be able to have a big influence and we should make Richo chase after him.

Kelly will be too good for him around stoppages and collecting scraps around the half forward line.

In all seriousness Im jealous at the number of options Geelong actually have.

The core age and body compisition of most of the Geelong team means you have a half dozen guys that could probably use as options on Richo. I don't think theres to many teams that can match him point for point on all his attributes. Few guys his size can run so hard for so long and at the pace that he does, he is one of the best contested marks in the competition because hes had the ball delivered so badly for so long and he has had plenty of practise taking marks with others crawling all over him. Having said that a defender doesn't need to beat him point for point just slow his output down so that it doesn't influence the result in any way.

I'd guess Richo won't find the space he normally can against some teams because Geelongs sensationaly consistency over the past 12 months has come from defensive accountability from all players.

Richo to the wing has improved richmond by more goals than he is personally responsible for . No Richo at fullforward means no spare defender floating in front of him for the rubbish bomb to Richo out manned in the square. Richmond actually need to look for a target inside 50 and its brought other players into the game.

I just want to see game against Geelong that doesn't involve me crying into my beer at half time.

Ricketts, I do like a person who thinks outside the box :thumbsu:
