Well Done on a great game on Friday Night against the Kangaroos.

After an ordinary first three weeks and pre-season for the 6th best and fairest of 2004, Cole who probably was in the mix in the lower order for the cut, he kept his spot due to his role of playing on the small forwards, and did okay on Betts in the second half last week. But last night was the start to what looks like an improvement.

I think every Collingwood supporter says out loud or to themselves, "oh no" when Cole gets a loose ball on the run because we know he is going to take them on and get caught  , it happened twice in the first half last night and I thought that was it, but his game just got better and better and better. He got the confidence like Shaw got and now kept from last week after a poor first half, and Nick Maxwell was similar in the way to improve as the game got longer against Carlton.

Is Richard Cole better playing off the half back flank, or is he better in his defensive back pocket role on the smaller forward? After last night, playing off half-back up the ground it showed glimpses that he can provide that run, and now we saw some of his foot skills, especially the spearing pass to Tarrant's chest for what could have and should have been a winning goal.

Well Done Richard Cole! :)

I would love to see Richard Cole being placed on a Half Back Flank for most/all of his career.

Richard Cole would be at Collingwood forever, I just love the way he attacks the footy, and the way he run's out of defence with confidence.

Go Richard Cole, What a Star!!! :)

yeah, love his pressure and confidence,
Would be sensible to run him off the back flank for the time being
although i wouldnt be surprised if after a while he did a bit of work on teh wing

I'd like to see guys like Lonie and Cole given a chance as attacking wingman and forward flankers rather than them having to sit in the backline , but instead we have guys like Lockyer,Williams and Woewodin filling these roles *sigh*.

I rate Cole very highly. I think he can be a great 200 game player.
He just has the great combo of flair and toughness. He is very good one on one and in traffic, does back himself alot now which gets him into trouble a bit, but at least he is showing the confidence and creativity which we lack.

For even THINKING of comparing him to D.Millane, Text Walker should be forever banned from this website! Not even close!

As I have said on another thread, non existent right foot, and even when on the left I doubt even he knows where the ball will end up!

Grossly over rated and a disgraceful player for a Number 10 draft pick!

Two Words - TRADE BAIT!

I love it when he gets the ball and "trys" to burst his way through packs.. But hate it when he gets pinned for holding the ball which is to often

I reckon he would go alright in the midfield, but only because i beleive he could be the next Lica, IE - Getting underneath every pack.. ;)

He can get a bit eager and he does get caught holding the ball a lot but that is not something you want to stop him from doing. He really has to fight for his position with a lot of other small defenders, i.e. Lonie, Rowe, Maxwell
