Well Done on a great game on Friday Night against the Kangaroos.
After an ordinary first three weeks and pre-season for the 6th best and fairest of 2004, Cole who probably was in the mix in the lower order for the cut, he kept his spot due to his role of playing on the small forwards, and did okay on Betts in the second half last week. But last night was the start to what looks like an improvement.
I think every Collingwood supporter says out loud or to themselves, "oh no" when Cole gets a loose ball on the run because we know he is going to take them on and get caught
, it happened twice in the first half last night and I thought that was it, but his game just got better and better and better. He got the confidence like Shaw got and now kept from last week after a poor first half, and Nick Maxwell was similar in the way to improve as the game got longer against Carlton.
Is Richard Cole better playing off the half back flank, or is he better in his defensive back pocket role on the smaller forward? After last night, playing off half-back up the ground it showed glimpses that he can provide that run, and now we saw some of his foot skills, especially the spearing pass to Tarrant's chest for what could have and should have been a winning goal.
Well Done Richard Cole!
