With Brodie being reported is it time for Cole to step up? Can he be our number one run with player? He certainly can tackle - whether he has the stamina to go all day is another question.

I reckon he's worth a punt. Or alternatively the much maligned Matthew Lokan, who seems to have gone stale in the back pocket. The challenge might help his form.

Thoughts? Can Cole tag?

Both Cole and Lokan still have a long to way to go in terms of development but as for a run with/tagging role to replace Dutchy, I'd most definately go with Lokan in that role before Cole.

Cole is not a great defensive player and he doesn't have great pace, so I wouldn't be giving him that kind of role imo. Cole is better up forward or in the middle and in close as he has great strength and can break the packs. Lokan, on the other hand has done well in this role previously and more importantly, has the pace to run with.

Neither are experienced enough to tag, I'd go with Rupert as a Brodes replacement he was rested from last weeks Williamstwon game so he will be fresh as a daisy, and he was raring to go a few weeks ago.

Cole makes too many silly mistakes to be an effective tagger, while Lokan I don't think could run slow enough to just tag he would end up running off his taggee and end up handing it over to his player.

I actually think using Cole in Brodie's position is a good idea. Give the boy a huge challenge, I think he will appreciate it.
