Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Lynch probably goes around again (unless his body completely fails....again). But outside of those 2 we still have McIntosh (likely gone after 2025), Vlastuin, Broad, Nankervis, Short and Balta.
Short can go for whatever the club can get for him through free agency.
He showed his true colours last year

Very interesting position for Richmond this year

Have Pick 2 and 3 currently, will end up with 2 picks in the top 5

Wonder if we split a pick and who we target

Word is Rosas is coming and we want another of that age as well

What options do you have to split? Richmond has been the hardest team for me to find potential trades for and it seems like a good year to just use what you've got.

If we do actually slide back it will be a around 3-5 spots for a player we like and get a 2nd rounder as the bonus
Swans , Blues , Bombers

I can see the Bombers wanting to move their 2nd 1st rounder the Melbourne pick up from pick #7 to pick #3 and they also have 2 x 2nd rounders and they would probably be our best trading partner if we decide to slide back

Rosas should be traded for a F2 or F3 IMO.
He isnt a regular best 22 so he wouldnt be worth much in a trade

f3 at the most, lets not get carried away, I think

I probably would want more from GC, he is 24 and not cracked it yet and we are a few years away yet.

I would actually get a small forward later in a few years to be honest, if push came to shove.

us helping Gold Coast out not picking their academies would cover Rosas if we are truthful

Downgrade our 2nd pick to Carlton or Gold Coasts 1st pick so they can get away with an extra pick before bids, plus a future pick sweetener on top from them.

It would have to be something very good from them though, particularly Gold Coast. Don't want to strengthen our future rivals without getting an amazing deal in return. And no, Rosas is not that sweetener.

Carlton's 8 (TDK compo) will become 12 after academy and father/son bids.
Gold Coast's 9 (tied to Port) will become 13.

4 to Carlton for 12, 2026 F2 and 2027 F2.
4 to Gold Coast for 13 and 2026 F1.

Blues will need their F1 for Walker bids. GC don't have any top tier academy kids coming through in next 2 years, so their F1 is on the table.

These are very fair deals. Richmond could bend these 2 clubs over if they wanted to. At the very least, try for more future pick upgrades.

I'd be taking the Carlton deal if I was Richmond.

Going to be interesting if we trade a pick. Lots to play out and a lot of permutations.

Also could provide us with the draft capital to make some moves work.

But I want those 2 top picks + Kellaway.

This is not the draft to be splitting or dropping back picks very light on for top end talent and a lot of academy picks will go early you absolutely take early picks to the draft

And if we only rate the top 3 above the rest? What then, considering we'll likely have pick 4?

For clubs like Carlton and Gold Coast, it's better to have a pick, plus their F/S / Academy kid vs just their F/S / Academy kids. For Richmond, if we rate the players available at pick 4 on the same level as players in the 10-15 range, why wouldn't we do the trade, especially if it gives us upgrades in future drafts?

I posted the hypothetical before of:

Richmond's Pick 4 to Carlton for Pick 12, F2 (2026) and F2 (2027)

That is incredibly fair, given that it enables Carlton to have an additional 1st round pick this year. They're essentially trading F2 x 2 for Harry Dean. Richmond can probably slightly more out of that. Maybe...

Richmond's Pick 4 + F4 (2027) to Carlton for Pick 12, F2 (2026), F2 (2027), and F3 (2026)

There will be some decent players available at your picks with compromised drafts coming you take best available now don’t want to keep moving picks or you end up in a never ending rebuild like north
I feel like you completely ignored what I said.

I still think Tassie is more like to be pushed back.

Not that I am near the decision makers and their motives, it is just the competition is falling apart from my observation as Tassie coming in next year would be too much I think.Ignoring RFC, Essendon, North, West Coast and even some others are a bit too thinly spread.

As an example, some talk up Freo's list, I do not think it is that overwhelming, a bit like Port, never good enough in recent years.

What I worry about is better players go up the draft and you miss out on who you went back to pick in the first place

Seems a terrible deal for Richmond. Id take what we have to the draft. If Rosas wants to come it will be for a future 4th or as a delisted free agent.

Cant see many other changes. We may try and get back in to the second or third round by trading someone like Young given the surplus of tall defenders we have.

No I understand my point is that there is 6-7 good talents in this draft that are not academy tied, then you have Carlton west coast and Essendon that will all more than likely end up with top ten free agency compensation picks so pick 12 gets pushed back quite a lot and as for your trade a second rounder in 27 won’t be worth trading for , so your basically dropping 8spots in this draft and outside the elite talent range for a second round pick next year I don’t see the value in doing that, when you can go to the draft and pick two good talents with your current picks

Agree with this. Take the top picks to add to this years crop and keep building.

True enough.

Another interesting element will be that with the changed points system, a lot of the picks will be burned for academy/FS/NGA/FA players ill be higher than they would previously have been.
Could well turn out that late 2nds (and beyond) end up earlier than their nominal value.

So if you have pick 36, and 10 Academy/FS/NGA/FA players are selected, but 15 picks before yours are burned to claim them, you'd end up with pick 31. (those numbers are just made up to illustrate the point)
