Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

The beauty about the Richmond rebuild and current list position is

  • 1st year into our rebuild and still manage 5 wins when some said they wouldnt win a game the entire season
  • Taking 7 top picks in a very strong draft plus Jasper Alger late who i rate very highly as a 17 year old
  • 4 talls in Sims , Armstrong , Faull , Trainor as well as 4 Mid/Fwd in Hotton , Smillie , Lalor , Alger
  • 2nd year into rebuild another 5 players 2 inside to 4 (open draft )

But the part that most over look is the senior players on the list to guide these kids through still have another 1-3 seasons to transition
Nank , Short & Vlastuin 2-3 years
Taranto & Hopper 4-5 years

The Tigers will also have so much cap space end of 2026 it will be massive
Senior players in the last 2-3 years on average - reasonable salaries & Kids on Rookie wages
Just from the 2025 cap The salaries of Rioli , Bolton , Baker , Graham over $3 mil would have been used to front end all the senior contracts and bank the 5% then we have 2026 with no major contracts on the list that demand big salaries

2026/27/28 Richmond will be a serious player in the free agent market to replenish the 25-26 year bracket of players that will be whats missing

Taking 7 top picks in a very strong draft

Two drafts have really settled Richmonds list. Across all lines.

If it comes together and they all develop they will be very good.

Like I've said before, we really don't care as much as you seem to want us to.

More posts in the WCE thread from a certain Richmond poster than on his own team's thread

Curious to see what people were saying in this thread and the first post bump is of course about WCE fans.

Rent.

You know what I think would help?

You should cry about it

2026 will be similar to 2025 in that we'll still be pumping games into the kids, hopefully the senior players can stay fit and on the park to guide them to a few wins.

Game plan hopefully continues to grow under Yze.

Won 5 games last year, I think 5-8 this year is achievable.

Richmond should be similar to what we seen in 2025 bottom 2/3 with 4-5 wins against cellar dweller teams in our group
with more development and games into the younger kids from the 24' draft. And should see the retirements of Broad & Prestia with Lynch also a possibility.

Richmond need another 2 drafts and between 6-8 more kids during the next 2 drafts to consider the future team is complete and that will be YZE's team.
2026-2028 Richmond will also be in the market for 2-3 free agents in the 25-27 year age bracket to replace that age group that will be missing

2029/2030 should see Richmond back competing with a extended period
4-5 year complete rebuild that challenges in the 6-7 year time frame should be whats expected

Good analysis. To my mind I am looking at 2028 for a team that is actually competitive. How competitive depends on 1) development of our kids, 2) learning and improving the game plan, 3) growth of our current 3-6 year players, and 4) our trades/FAs.

In 28 the 24 crop will have 3 years experience and should be starting to be solid AFL players. The game plan should be fairly complete and well understood. The current 3-6 year players should hopefully be fully mature AFL players who will out that middle age group and solidify our team. And we should be able to trade/FA in some good players and solid role players to fix the age group gap, and to make the team work better. get that right and 2028 we should have a good well structured team of high quality playing a good game style. Whether that team will be a contender or just middle of the ladder I have no idea. But we should have spent a lot of our spare $, and the young guys should be mature and ready to go week in week out.

I think you covered it really well. With the amounts of picks you secured in the last 2 years and very good mature players providing support you are to a great start of re-build.

I guess the risk is that a lot of things has to go well to fulfil your prediction. A lot of assumptions is based on potential, development and securing good trades.

How many picks will turn out great? Not all. I look at e.g. Smillie who played 0 games in his first year as a warning.

Good luck. I will watch with interest. Re-build is a tough gig but IMO, Tigers are on the right track.

Yeah. If we get a lower hit rate with the new draftees, our 4-6 year players don't mature well, we don't get good trades and the game plan is meh, then we'll be mid team that needs a lot of work.

But we start with a complete spine and strong talented midfield - on paper. From there ........

We need to bump this thread , I have not had a BZprks notification/Quote for a week
i think he must be upset or i have hurt his feelings

Geez haven’t you been arguing with WC fans across multiple other threads, no need to go fishing for more

Oh I put you on ignore a couple of weeks ago. You've got nothing worth responding to and your obsession with WCE and me is downright deranged.

Was wondering why this thread got bumped. Thought there might have been some interesting discussion but turns out it was the same poster being desperate for attention, as usual.

Some things never change...

Feel free to respond but I won't be responding to you.

8 games would be a great resut but you're underestimating how long a full rebuild takes.
