Blakely showed in the 2015 NAB that he was at relative ease playing at the higher level. Sadly he was kept in the WAFL all season bar one token game despite consistent form.
Last night I thought he settled further and in my opinion is the brightest of our young prospects aside from Pearce. Great that he is now getting game time now but it should have happened last year.

Highlighting some stats here; Hughes with 17 disposals (9 kicks) at 94%DE is very, very impressive on a wet and windy night, Crozier 15 disposals (11 kicks) at 93%. Neale just outstanding once again, I can't believe there are people willing to trade him away for anything less than Jesse Hogan.

I think it's a sure thing that this year's not going to be a pretty one but we'll just see who the true hearted supporters are here reporting the games, giving insight and backing our lads come season's end. The kids are being blooded which will be invaluable for next year, we're seeing what Blakely can do who had 22 disposals, 15 being contested, with only a staggering 62% game time.

Alex going down is one of the worst things that could've happened on field this year, but he'll be back, and someone as talented as him will bounce back. I'm looking forward to see what my buddy can do in his place next week.

I said this in another thread, but to be perfectly honest I actually find the games easier to watch this year. Maybe not so much with respect to enjoyment after but they're less nerve-wracking at least. Last year there was so much expectation built up with that start and the looming spectre of the age of a few key players... now it's not there i'm really enjoying watching the games from Blakely, Weller, Hughes and the like. A different feeling for sure, not necessarily negative.

The older guys look terrible and the younger guys just aren't stepping up, and some (like Sheridan) probably never will. Just depressing.

I really liked what I saw from Blakely though. Weller is good in flashes, but can he please put it together for a full game once to give everyone some hope that he could be a genuine star? We need some bloody hope this season. Pearce has been giving us that and now he's gone. FFS. Kill this season. Kill it with fire.

I never understood the Sheridan hype. He's the plainest footballer I've ever seen: he has no weapons, no fatal flaws either, but in AFL footballer it's the search for stars that keeps list managers up at night and Sheridan is never going to be a star - he's the sort of player who you'd delist in the hope there's something better on the horizon and nobody would notice he was missing.

Bog ordinary - and you have to ask if we need him.

What hype? He's been shitcanned by most since the beginning.

Sheridan is precisely why 'best available' is a pile of horseshit. We've taken an outside mid who could run a 15.1 beep and tried to turn him into Duffield with more pace. Hartung, Hiscox, B Hill etc aren't or won't playing as defenders. We've had Hill and D Pearce playing those roles, and for whatever reason the match committee havent thought enough of Sheridan to displace them.

Whoever started the best available love affair needs to to be put out to pasture.

Nobody wants to trade Neale, but the facts are that he is out of contract, has yet to re-sign, there are rumours of him wanting to move east, and we won't get Jesse Hogan for him if he does go. Among other things, Melbourne already have a couple of very good up and coming inside mids, they aren't going to give up Hogan for another one. Essendon will likely have first pick in the PSD if we don't trade. His likely price is a single first rounder.

Anyone else starting to really like what Taberner is bringing this season? Last year you wouldnt have even seen him at all during that game, would have been subbed in the 2nd with 0 touches.

Not saying he lit the world on fire, but on a shocking night for talls he kept presenting, took a couple contested marks & kicked a great goal.

If he can start marking half the marks he gets his hands to he will be a ripper.

He's still only played 35 games!

Yep, I'm slowly getting there. I've been quite impressed with his last few games and you're spot on about Saturday's game, he wasn't great but he showed that he's improved from 12 months ago, or even 1 month ago.

I'm still not buying in to the "it takes the big blokes longer" brigade and the thinking that he'll become a top level KF though. Despite the recent improved form, he's only really doing what he should be doing and should've been doing all along. He's still got a way to go.

A month ago I was thinking that he wouldn't make it, I'm now thinking he can become a reasonable player and could possibly eek out 100 games.

Yeah I definitely don't think he's the answer, but he could be a pretty handy player if we land McCarthy & Apeness gets out there. If Mayne stays or goes, that's starting to look like a bit of a forward line, will just need exp

suban is garbage. i lost count of the amount of times he got the ball and fell over from 0 pressure, bloke is worse than brett peake.
Whoa whoa hey hey hey. There's no need for that. Let's all just take a deep breath here before someone looses an eye. Brett Peake.. that's just going overboard.

The next 10 picks post Sheridan were garbage too.

I got to play an exhibition game out on the ground at half time - my life has now officially reached the heights of a 6 year old Auskick kid.

Did anyone see the big fella playing at half time down the Subi end
Must have kicked at least 8-10 goals
Was literally putting on a clinic
Sign him up for this week

I didn't mind Crozier coming off HB. Even though it was in the 2nd half and pretty much iced by Richmond he got a fair bit of it. He is a great kick of the footy - just goes missing for large chunks.

This year isn't the year to look at the team within a short period of time, we have no spine ATM, and our elite are
missing.
Similar to the eagles a few years ago, when they looked pathetic, rudderless, a new coach and game plan, and needed
game time put into their kids. On the plus side having a down year ensures you have better draft picks, options.
Would like to see Sherro, Crozier swapped around, could be the making of them both.

To be fair, the only rumours of him wanting to move east have originated in the media. You're right though, until he signs it's an unknown - and people wanting a magic alignment of stars 'swap lachie for hogan' are a touch delusional ;)
