"Scientists announced today that they have discovered a cure for apathy. However, they claim no one has shown the slightest interest in it." - George Carlin.

Australians seem to have developed historic amnesia. "Who Cares"? Poor call.

Who or what defines a clash anyway? There is seemingly no real logic or science to it just a vibe at AFL house that there is a clash between the Adelaide and Richmond jumpers. Personally I have never had a problem distinguishing between the two.

Whats KB's point? He is sooking that they dont wear there traditional jumper when back in his time they were more than happy to accept the premiership cup wearing the oppositions top and celebrate wearing another teams jumper.

Clearly the MCG is Richmond's home ground and not Adelaide's, and as I understand the rules, the home team gets to wear its home jumper. This is outrageous behaviour by the corrupt AFL but sadly not at all surprising.
If there is any home team its adelaide champ. You are making nothing more than an argument for the gf to be played at adelaide oval

So much for the word of Gillon McLachlan on afl 360 on 19 Sep.

We will flip a coin or have an arm wrestle or work out something. Instead straight after Richmond win,
he announces Richmond will play in the away strip.

I can live with the clash strip, after all Adelaide has to come play us on our home ground. (Better the canary jumper than playing Adelaide in Adelaide)

I am disappointed Gillon McLachlan felt it necessary to 'LIE' to us 48 hours before hand. Have some balls Gillon! The world does not need another Trump.

I have to admit, the Victorian fan melts in this thread are extremely delicious and hilariously ironic.

Richmond fans have shown the most class of all the Vic fans.

(Excluding KB)

They understand the significance of the day. They don’t seem to think it’s owed to them that they get what they want. Unsurprisingly, Carlton fans are demonstrating their unwavering sense of entitlement.

I’m sure if they win or lose next Saturday, the confidence it will give them will lead to bigger and better things, and they’ll have the right to wear their home strip in a GF in the near future.

Shit decision. Change the number colours and shorts.
Stop acting as if common sense still exists. :p

It is just the times we live in. There is no common sense to it.
Just nufties with too much time on their hands to make up the need for clash strips when anyone with half a brain can work out how to tell difference in two teams at ground or on tv after a minute or two. Team wear white shorts worked for an eternity. Logic left the building well over a decade ago.

Maybe KB would prefer Richmond wear their traditional strip, but instead play the match at the Adelaide Oval?

No. Don't want that KB?

How about just take the away match at your own home MCG ground, but wear the clash strip. Seems a fair trade off.

It's clear a clash strip is needed. Both teams have dark and yellow as main colours. It's the biggest game of the year, going to an international audience and it's important that the television aesthetics are top notch.

A clash strip is more important for the Grand Final than it is for any other game.

Do not see it at all. The closest to a clash strip needed was Dons and Dees on a gloomy muddy day but even then back in day could still tell the difference but understood someone with poor eyesight way at back may struggle.

Easy as hell to tell these two teams apart.
Blind freddy could work out the difference.
Would have to be a mud pit and white shorts covered in mud to be an issue.

Of course if you look closely anyone can tell the two teams apart.

That's not the issue.

The issue is if there are 12 players around the ball, and the player fires off a quick handball to a "colour" he sees out of the corner of his eye. It's much easier on the player (and the fans) in that instance, if there is a clear colour distinction between the teams.

I've been to hundreds and hundreds of games, played in games when much younger in Yarra Valley mudheaps and watched even more games on tv since 1978.
I reckon in all instances I seen that be a problem 2 or 3 times.....
It is such a load of nonsense why they are not wearing normal jumper and just white shorts.

Why would either team need white shorts?

White stands out to the eye so it was the logical step they did way back before any of us born. That is why when common sense still existed you always had one team wear white short, just in case. It was not needed in every match but they still did it rather than trying to make a decision from game to game. But common sense went some time ago.

So what you're saying is, you need white shorts because guernseys are sometimes insufficient for differentiating two teams.

The defence rests Your Honour.

To be honest, the jumpers don't even clash.

How is Adelaide vs Richmond considered a clash, but Adelaide vs Essendon not a clash? Is it literally only because of the yellow numbers?
