At the end of the day if Richmond win all there fans will remember in the years to come was the fact they were the 2017 premiers of the lose the jumper will always be a sore point
you're a bit optimistic there. Obviously you support a club whose clash Guernsey is almost equivalent to proper guernsey. You don't know what it's like to have your club's heritage defaced with something designed by out of touch elites in AFL House.

Martin Flanagan the ultimate in club heritage says clash guernsey is a joke. I will take his word as meaning more than someone who plays polo and has no real love for the game.

If they win, watching reruns of the game would be painful as watching only 20% Richmond not 100% Richmond. I guess their supporters should be grateful suits in AFL House haven't altered their club song. One day no doubt some executive trying to make mark on game will say the song clashes with someone or something.

Last year clearly wasn't.

If you want to try to justify or explain an AFL decison, use the 2015 and 2016 final series as part of your study. They contradict each other.

Only possible conclusion, they make it up as they go.

They do, but this year (if you accept there is a clash, which I don't) they got it right. Highest qualifying team should get all the home team privileges. Choice of change-room, home jumper in case of a clash, etc.

Going on the AFL's love of clash jumpers that look nothing like the real strip what will be next clash names?

Quality work guys, within a couple of posts of each other you've managed to throw in two of the worst slippery slope arguments I've ever seen.

My god there's a lot of drama in this thread.

It's a jumper. You're in the grand final - that's what matters. I wouldn't care if my team had to play in pink tutus if they ended up winning the flag.

you are kidding, right?
So according to you, if the jumper doesn't matter then why even bother with them at all. Why don't we just use blue shirts for the home team and red ones for the away team in every game because as long as your playing well and winning the supporters will be happy to watch the team play every week.

Come on, there's over 100 years of culture in the jumper you wear just like there is in the name of the club which is what 100's of thousands of footy supporters turn up to watch every year. I still go and watch my team play when were on the bottom of the ladder because I've got a love for the club, after that we hope to see them win games. I don't go and watch any old team play just because their on the top of the ladder.

interesting take on my post, ran with arguments that were totally unrelated, but interesting none the less.

what's going with the tigers shop website? lots of finals gear but surprised their guernseys page isn't listing any items. would think the alternate could be selling like hot cakes this week. a great opportunity being missed here by the tigers.

If it's so important to have the celebrations in a specific jumper why did clubs used to do them wearing the opposition's jumper?

Maybe if Richmond win they should accept the trophy in Adelaide jumpers. Because, you know, tradition...

can they quickly switch to their regular non clash jumper if they win? For the podium etc? Maybe wear one under their clash jumper, a la Bob Murphy last year.

The one good thing to come out of all this, clubs will take their away or clash jumper designs more seriously if they know they might one day end up playing a GF wearing it. We might start to get some better designs coming through instead of the half-hearted bullshit most of them produce.

True, what matters most is that we’re in the GF.

Love it.

Tbf Richmond's clash strip actually looks pretty good. The Crows one looks terrible so I'm glad it worked out this way.

straight out the worst posters in this thread seem to be Carlton supporters - Richmond fans for the most seem to be 'would prefer to wear home but dont give a **** playing GF'

meanwhile you and some other carlton folk have gone on as if it's a direct insult or something stupid like that

check out the kit carlton wore in the 1909 GF - go to 2.07 (though watch the start for all the hats in the crowd!)

that's right, I counted THREE different Carlton tops in the same game!

Then South Melbourne come out with sashes in different direction

What is my point? My point is that history and tradition is made by how we make it - Just because something is different doesn't make it bad - Richmond are still wearing Yellow & Black - They are still undeniably Richmond. Embrace it and grow up
