Are you for ******* real?
It is the opposite of common sense.
What an absolute wank.
Both teams should be wearing what they normally wear.
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN COMMON-SENSE

Common sense
R.I.P
If there was common sense in AFL, we'd be playing the Grand Final at Adelaide Oval next weekend. But there's not and we aren't.

Non-Victorian sides have been putting up with unfair shit for decades.

Get over it.

Maybe just me but I think the clash jumper is more of an issue considering the yellow on the shoulders of both the crows home and tigers away kits.

Personally I think white shorts would have been an obvious solution.

Was never a problem for how long?

Anyway I don't give a damn just happy to be there next week........
Till 1990, when the VFL changed it's name to AFL and decided it wanted to include a team from South Australia.

**** the networks. Worried that the home viewers will struggle to distinguish the teams. Sick of the AFL kowtowing to these people. Partnership my ass. So what if they paid 2 billion dollars. Doesn't give them the right to **** with a hundred years of tradition. Why don't Richmond grow a pair, and stand for something. Instead of the other 17 clubs whining when the Pies refused to relent, why didn't they join the fight? When are the clubs going to stand together on an issue, any issue, instead of bickering among themselves. Richo was whining about this issue tonight on the air. Does he know it's his bosses fault? Why doesn't he get his boss on the line. Ask him directly. Get him to explain himself. In fact, get him to do an eye test. Here's one:

g. e. t. y. o. u. r.
g. r. u. b. b. y.
h. a. n. d. s.
o. f. f. o. u.
r. g. a.
m. e.

And here's a message for Bartlett. (And my condolences to Tigers fans, because I know what it's like to have a past player who's dumber that a block of wood, and even worse when he has a voice on radio for 3 hours every day). He obsesses with the Pies away strip, and mocks it for being black on white, instead of white on black. Has he not noticed that there's an unequal number of B&W stripes? This means it looks significantly different inverted. And has he not noticed that the stripes have disappeared completely from the back of the Pies jumper this year? So there you go. The Pies have relented after all. They shouldn't have. Nor should anyone else.
Excellent post. Very excellent post. I would fight for the right of Collingwood, Geelong, Essendon or any of them to wear the Guernsey that represents their heritage.

Getting Melbourne for example to wear White as well as blue and red is completely illogical for any reason

If people want to talk about tradition, why aren't more people complaining about Richmond's shade of yellow? It's turned from gold to highlighter yellow this year, under Puma. That itself is a slap in the face to years of tradition. I can't believe Tigers' fans are okay with them wearing it at all, let alone wanting it in a Grand Final. They should petition to wear old wool jumpers.

Geech, some people live in the dark ages. There is a clear clash and the right call has been made. Looking at stills makes everything so easy.

Match 1 min of that and then watch this years (in 240p as well if you want a true comparison)

call me blind or whatever but i know which one is far easier to tell. Hopefully this precedent has now been set and that it wont change. There were some ripping examples in the other thread.

Richmond have trashed 35 years of tradition just by making the GF.

Best thing about this decision is a good precedent has been set... if Port or Freo finish minor premiers along with winning both finals next year and verse Carlton, there is no excuse for them not to wear their clash jumper.

They should petition to wear old wool jumpers.
Not only this, but they weren't wearing Jeep or Bingle on their jumpers back in 1982 as well...

Find it amusing that most Richmond fans on here have actually been reasonable on this thread yet Carlton fans are kicking up a stink about it

Plzz. Common sense is foreign to your brain with such nonsense.
A well thought out and put together argument you have there. I will take it into consideration.

EDIT: In fact, I think I'm sold.

Richmond SHOULD wear their home jumper. They should also wear these:

And how long "after" the AFL were Richmond and Adelaide strips able to peacefully co-exist?

I think the only driver of this crap is the apparel companies who of course can pay the AFL a nice licence fee.

FFS the biggest clashes these days are the bloody umpires, willing to place a bet they'll be in yellow next week? Mind you it would have been red if it was St Kilda Vs Essendon.

Like I said no issues from me, just think i's all a load of crap as I remember North Vs Collingwood on Black and White TV, on muddy grounds and the players could still tell the difference.

In all seriousness, I don't think Richmond v Adelaide have ever peacefully coexisted in terms of jumpers. Always been one of the worst jumper clashes (there's a few other specific clashes too). It is only with the further expansion of additional teams that the AFL have taken it seriously.

Look, I have a modern Smart TV the size of a minivan, but I still prefer clubs to wear non-clashing jumpers.

Your sign in is "arsene Wenger" which says it all. You are largely a soccer fan who thinks soccer principles should be transferred to other games. Soccer's bigger worldwide, so football in Australia should just get in line and follow big daddy, right.

And I know NFL has away and home guernseys too, but that is their culture, not ours.

Dark, light no one was talking about this rubbish until the afl dictated it. You even now have Hawthorn wearing a clash Guernsey, brown and yellow stripes Apparently caused confusion as brown is such a popular colour
100% wrong. My sign is arsene Wenger because I couldn’t be bothered thinking of anything else at the time. Don’t tell me what sport I’m mainly a fan of like you have a clue about me. Afl is my favourite sport but as I said I hate watching teams play who clash. Screw the culture and all that crap your talking about, this is about the spectacle of the game

For once the AFL actually makes the right decision. Richmond had to wear the clash jumper otherwise the AFL would be admitting that some clubs are more equal than others. Only decision that could be made after Eddie's hissy fit over a coin toss in 2010.

Now that the ruling is confirmed it puts the onus on clubs to create an alternate jumper that they actually want to wear.

And for those that think there was no clash. Adelaides home jumper is a dark jumper with a flash of yellow and Richmonds home jumper is a dark jumper with a flash of yellow. Now you can argue till you're blue in the face about royal blue and black but not about navy and black.

Melbourne actually wore white in their very, very early years... so technically one of their traditional colours
