1995 was the last time we had a chance to realistically challenge. However we lost Richo with a ACL against Sydney. He was Buddy like as a youngster back then, We destroyed highly fancied North (with Wayne Carey at his peak) with a ? 9 goal first quarter early in the year. Lost our CHB in Stuart Wigney too (who killed Carey that night).

You guys were pretty good but I think still a fair way short of us and the cats.

Strange how they didn't kick in and become regular finalists after that

See what I mean?

So your point is that when talk shit, Richmond fans will call you on it?

Yeah, not seeing the problem. Maybe you should write less crap.

Nah I mean they'll crack it and start writing funny stuff like #weareeveronesgrandfinal

As OP pointed out, Richmond don't win or dope enough to be disliked

and yet we still are....

Perhaps that's why the thread title is asking for an explanation.

Probably because of all the Richmond sulks on bigfooty. Big clubs have more supporters, more supporters equals more obnoxious dickheads.

It's probably not even a bigger tool ratio than anyone else, it's just those dickheads are the loudest people around.

Asking questions and then getting upset about the answers doesn't tend to help either.

Anyone care to have a crack??

We have been down for so long, almost went bankrupt recently, I don't really understand it to be honest.

But no sweat if I cop all the normal stuff in here.

Genuinely interested.

Cheers.

BF posters.

I don't hate them, have a lot of family and friends who are Richmond supporters. If my perspective was restricted to BF it would be horribly different. There aren't a lot of sane Richmond supporters on this site.

I hate Richmond because they command respect and support from the AFL and the media because of their supporter base, not their performance which has been woeful in the last 30 years.

Oh, yeah, and Troy Chaplin as well.

Self obsessed much? For the record, I do not hate the Tigers, my mum and son (abnormal one) support them. That being said, looking forward to the mid season collapse, and North's only win for the year.
My sympathies go out to your son for a having a loser dad

Thats absolute Bullshiit - you werent around in the 60s and 70s

Nothing against the current Richmond supporters - but when that club was successfull - they were the most arrogant prricks on this planet - Ian Wilson , Graeme Richmond - i couldnt stand any of them - they made me sick

Id far prefer the Bulldogs to win another flag - even a 3rd flag in this era - than for Richmond to break their long drought

You're talking about 40-55+ years ago. It's not just me...anyone younger than their mid-40s would struggle to remember the Tigers as a successful club and they've been a punchline for most of that.

Richmond's dominant period (which was - what - something like 1967-74?) has about as much relevance to most of us as Melbourne's domination of the league in the 1950s.

On the other hand, most footy supporters around my age know those 3-4 die-hard Richmond supporting mates (or St Kilda, or Melbourne, or the Bulldogs until last year), who have seen barely any success since they started following the footy. That's who I'd be happy for.

Have a habit of getting excited after early form and then telling everyone how good you are. I remember being abused in 2013 when I said the Tigers were no good. Everyone roasted me about Carlton and then it came back to bite them in the arse big time. It's the same shit every year, it's like they never learn.

I remember the late 70's and early 80's. Richmond fans were insufferable then and nothings changed.

Myself personally don't care what people think of the RFC, would not of even asked the stupid question, be proud that people hate our club. They will hate us even more when we do finally become successful again. Us Against Them!

I really like Richmond. Theyre fans are loyal and passionate, their song is awesome, they have that whole sash thing going. Am I doing it wrong?
Same.

Got to respect Tiger fans who turn up in great numbers regardless of how their team is travelling.

Also, how can I hate a team we have a 75% winning record against.

Hope it is a cracking game next Sunday.
