Mabior Chol will spend 2018 in the VFL, take a stack of marks and and finish the year kicking 2-3 times as many behinds as goals. Nothing against the kid, but I would have thought it was time to pull the pin on that experiment.

Sucks to see Morris go from the AFL system, one of the hardest players at the ball I've seen in the yellow and black, just a shame his talent didn't match up with his attack on the ball. Even as he was going down after doing his ACL last year he had the composure to punch the ball on. I am stoked that he has committed to the club's VFL team. Should be rewarded with a leadership spot, imo.

all fair calls - Morris has been overtaken by a few premiership players and then you have Stengle/Short/Lennon/Lloyd also in front of him. Hunt had short/Broad/Markov/CEllis all in front of him.
Elton had everyone in front of him by the end of the year - not even getting in the VFL Grand Final side. (i'm as sad about this as i was when McBean/Post/Hughes/Polak/Vick were found out and subsequently moved on) i really wanted Elton to show something more this year. Him and McBean i was very disappointed with that they couldnt take games on and make a position that they were pretty much handed their own.

None were gonna get games next year

On the flip side 2018 should be the year of Cal Moore. He'll be promoted by the half way mark next year and will play 6+ games next year.

taking 3 picks into the draft is spot on. the rest of the team had great years and the youngsters in the VFL are coming on leaps and bounds by the end of the season.

keeping batch is a good idea - he'll play a role next year. possibly could be traded though and would get a 3rd rounder for him. that would come in handy for Naish.

Sensible changes. Morris and Hunt both honest triers. Both tigers fans as kids who got to live out their dream of playing with the tigs and while not in the team were at the club when we won a premiership so got to feel part of it. Morris staying in the VFL team is fantastic also. Elton just not quite up to it and doesn't really fit our plans going forward. Best of luck for the future of these three blokes.

Our list is looking very strong now. From when Dimma took the reigns to now is just amazing the difference. Wow.

Ivan as ruck coach to teach Shaun Grigg, Premiership Player how to dominate as second ruck next year. Awesome.

I'm sure other clubs have done it but I loved how the players in the interviews straight after the final siren acknowledged the VFL players ("the guys in the suits!") and involved them in the lap of honour. Will be interesting to see if Hunt stays on in the VFL if he doesn't get to another club. You wouldn't think he will get picked up.
On another note, I wonder if one of the mods could manipulate the swear filter so that when anyone types Shaun Grigg it adds Premiership Player!

What does everyone think about going after Schache? Worth our pick 17 if we can keep it? I think he's a great future replacement for Jack if he can get up and going. Just not sure of his head space, but if he's happy in Victoria, with the clubs good culture now, he may shine.

Dead against when it was a major talking point mid-season and even more so now.
Please Tigers tread with caution and say 'no'.
The part in red is what makes me so no on many fronts.
Apparently wanted out (and apparently does so again) yet turns around and signs a contract extension only to want out again two months later.
Didn't make himself available for the NEAFL grand final, which shows a commitment issue.

I like how they went into the rooms and the VFL players in suits and ties were in there ... except for Lloyd who had already dispensed with the tie and had the top button undone.
I reckon he's checked out and will be booting goals for Geelong soon.

Worth noting that this isn't the final say on such things...

The delisted guys are the ones we have no hope of trading, either because they don't want to play on or we know there will be no interest from elsewhere.

Wouldn't be too shocked if more are added (removed?) after trade period is over.



I also have a vague memory that the AFL changed the rules on points for F/S & Academy players so you can only use the points from 'live' picks, so if we went in with only 3 slots, we could only use picks 15, 17 & 51 and wouldn't be allowed to use the points for pick 54 & 74 because we weren't going to use them, so if I'm right, we will probably want at least one more slot.

Morris, Hunt & Elton would be on minimum wage (or close enough to as to make no difference), so really don't clear up any space, because their replacements will earn just as much. Maric & Yarran were known to be gone some time back so the cap space cleared up might well have been 'spent' already.

So we have just delisted 3, plus the retirements of Maric & Yarran. All as expected.

I am just curious as to whether I am missing something with the 2 rookie elevations reportedly already happened.
Is it true that we can only take as many picks (for points) to the draft as spare list places we have?
Shouldn't the elevations wait until after/during the draft so that we have 5 live picks (for points) rather than just 3 ? Considering we may need as many points as possible for a Naish bid, particularly if bid after pick 17.

I'm surprised to see Soldo upgraded. Personally I don't reckon he'll make it.
Still I'll back the club, our recent list management has been very good.

Thanks and good luck to the three boys and particularly Morris. A polarizing figure, but at his best a pleasure to watch his commitment on the field.
Congratulations to Castagna and Soldo on their promotions, well deserved to both of them. Not sure if either of these guys will be 100+ game players, but have earned their spot on the list for now.
As mentioned, with 3 free spots that mean we have draft picks 15, 17 and 50 ATM.
With the next 2 picks 53 and 72 I can see further movement so we can make use of these or that they will be upgraded somehow. Pick 72 has points value so I can't see us wasting that given we will need all the points we can get if we take Naish (although it might get pushed back with free agent compo picks).
We probably won't cut anyone else until after the trade period as we will try to get some value for them, but if we still need two more to go you would have to say it would be Batch and Lennon.
