Simon EisholdCraig Biddiscombe, great trade on our behalf
I'd have thought the idea of taking a mature age player was for them to be pretty much good to go. Isn;t that the reason we are using our rookie list for just that next year? So that we have mature players ready to go when needed? This is what I don't get, Elton is a first year draftee and get excused for not being ready. Derickx is a second year draftee(effectively a first year player when you consider he missed most of last year with injury), albeit a few years older, and yet he gets belted for not being able to take the game by storm.

Same. And even then, is he really the great backman messiah people here want him to be. Im not convinced.Port can easily match the offer if they want to keep him. Not sure he's 100% locked in as people think.
After his first NAB game 2 years ago many a supporter on here was talking him up as being our next number 1 ruckman. 2 years later posters are suggesting him as the worse player to ever pull on our jumper.he has shown nothing and he is very lucky to survive the first cut if we can trade in a ruckman he will be cut before the draft
Dont really Know If anybody Will Bother Reading This In Full But here It Goes.
Delisted Players so far are
Senior list
Webberly , McDonald , Moore , Connors , Browne -5 Spots free + 1 vet list Newman =6
Rookie list
Wright , Maric , Turner , helsin ,Miller - 5 spots free
Trade Bait
White , Post , McGuane , Graham , Jackson - I believe 1 maybe 2 might get traded (post & White)
Further delistings to come
If McGuane,Graham dont get traded , I believe they will be or Should be delisted.
In regards to graham's Contract if he is delisted and another club selects him , Im sure he is no longer part of our cap, if he isnt selected we could select him in the Rookie draft and continue to pay him his contract - IF HE IS NOT TRADED AND THIS LOOKS TO BE THE CASE - DERICKS WILL GET DELISTED.
Same goes for mcGuane, if he is not traded - Delist him and Rookie list him for depth, This will give us another 2 spots on the main list bringing it to 8 spots maybe 9 Spots depending on trades
3- Free Agents
5- ND Selections #9,#29,#31,#50,#68
1-PSD Selection
Also Between 4-5 Rookie Selections + Graham and or McGuane, These 2 players will only remain on the main list if Post & White get traded out for Picks or Pick Upgrades.
With This Formula we still get to draft 5 kids in the Nd & delegate 2 experienced Depth players to the rookie list which we are entitled to 1 automatic upgrade & 1 In round 11 i believe(rules might be different now)
We also still get the chance to draft 4 Rookies, Probably muture age Vfl,Sanfl,Wafl league players.
he has shown nothing and he is very lucky to survive the first cut if we can trade in a ruckman he will be cut before the draft
I get the feeling people associate Derickx with the Gold Coast lost, he was in the team when we lost therefore it's his fault and he's shit. Elton was in the team when they lost to Adelaide but Adelaide is 2nd on the ladder so is justifiable. Or you know, they both just could not be ready yet.
Clearly they're different, with different backgrounds... but when we pick up a ruckman at 23, surely we weren't going to give him the 3-5 years in the system to reach his peak (like is generally the case with an 18 y.o. ruck prospect) before making a call on him, regardless of how green he was in terms of footy experience?but thats, for elton, being in the AFL system for 5 years.
Man some people on here stupid. These are just out first list changes. The others we probably consider tradeable or as depth next year, why delist everyone we don't want and have nobody to trade? Truly idiots, some of you.
Sheesh? The softies are ruining this club. They should delist every player who is not in the best 22. Any less is a cop out and will prevent any progress for the next 30 years.
We should just replace them with untried 18 year olds at pick 137 or guys who've been running around in the NEAFL or the WAFL for 5 years but for some reason have never been picked up by another AFL club. Probably due to the AFL clubs scouts all being blind or something.![]()
Derickx was not the only bad player on that day, he made one mistake when the pressure was on and that's it, delist?I'm all for not bagging players but this is getting a little silly. Did you see the last few minutes of the gc gam? Tom is 24- age-wise mid career. Elton is 19 and top 30 draft pick. They are different.
evening.
ive tried this before, and this seems an appropriate thread to try the argument again.
and before you attack the club i support, i am trying to find something positive for you with this.
i am advocating throwing dustin martin up for trade bait, whether directly or indirectly offering him to obtain 2 x 20yo KPD's from GC or GWS. i understand he's a favourite son, he's still young etc etc, BUT he is just a very good player in an average list.
why dustin martin ? several reasons. he is good, no doubt. he has a profile, be it sometimes mixed. but he is not a game breaker, not a match winner. but he does offer something worthwhile - sufficient to entice GC or GWS to release 2 decent 20yo KP types.
from where i sit, you need 2 key defenders to work with for the next 10 years. 2 guys who are going to form the backbone of your defence. the existing KPD's are servicable, but are not matchwinners. they are forced to do jobs they havent got the ability for.
and why advocate this right now ? because you have on your list one of the best 5 players in the game right now....1st name trent. it would be criminal to see him play at your club for another 10 years and see not much for it. finishing 8th, 6th, whatever is not something to roar about. its top 4 or nothing and you know it.
yes you are building depth (chaplin & knights) plus finding some 18yo draftees, but 18yo KPD's take several years to prepare, and you need guys who are ready to be top class KPD's in 2 years when trent is maybe number 1 in the game, not 5-6 years from now when he's on the way down.
deledio, riewoldt & maric are not & should not go anywhere, and i dont see anyone else on your list that would get GC or GWS attention. chaplin & knights are not going to make a difference. a few more 18yo's arent going to make a difference. fixing the holes in your list while trent is dominating can make a difference.
thats it.
p.s. i miss hating richmond. i hate feeling sorry for them.
The last thing we need is 20 yo KPDs. Especially from GWS or GC. Our young defenders are much better than theirs. Not worried about our backline in the slightest. Also Dusty is and will be exactly what you've said he isn't...evening.

Lost me there. Also they don't have 2 decent young tall defenders between them. Charlie Dixon maybe then...evening.
