I does help the more players you have that can rotate through the middle and not sure we should be limiting him to solely being a back pocket , like we have done so with others in the past .
Yes he has been great in our back half and has been a role we have been struggling to fullfil , however let's not pigeon hole him .

Good isn't it , the day we have midfielders who can pinch hit forward rather than forwards who can resemble a midfielder the better .
Lids , Cotchin , Foley , Martin and Tuck will add more forward consistantly than someone like Nahas and will have opposition sides shitting themselves .
I personally see Conca assuming Newy's role within the back pocket , releasing Newy to a wing , Knights and pick 9 assuming Nahas role within the forward line and should add more within our midfield rotations .

imo conca is already more of a in and under than newy so i cant see him being a bp.

Profile: Very small midfielder, but he can play. Speed is elite and in the very top percentile. Has that pace but also uses it effectively and willingly takes on opposition players to effect. More than has the performances on the board and showed a lot during the 2011 and 2012 U18 championships. Kennedy is a big accumulator and can hit the scoreboard for a number of goals. Ball use generally very good. Has a neat left foot kick with nice penetration. Very capable of winning his own ball. Marking ability good for a player of his height. Tackling very good but with his pace has the potential to be an elite tackler. Kennedy has a big chance of doing what Dion Prestia and Devon Smith have done in recent years in getting drafted early despite lack of height.

Profile: Atkins has a really nice attack on the ball. Inside ball winning ability very good. Has really impressive quickness for an inside player and has a really impressive burst of pace. What makes him stand out is his decision making under pressure and his ball use in congestion, makes decisions quickly and makes the right ones consistently. Skill level high, good by foot and even better by hand. Can also go forward and have an impact. Finishing ability around goal good. Endurance seems to have improved over the past year and as a result Atkins has managed to get some big numbers in some of his TAC Cup games which is promising.

Height: 202cm, Weight: 84kg, DOB: 25/08/1994
Recruited from: Calder Cannons
Range: 15-45
Profile: Ruckman who can also play forward and has also spent most of this year playing down back curiously. McBean is an agile type ruckman who is excellent at ground level for a player of his size and has an excellent skill set and decision making ability for a tall. As a forward typically leads to the right spots and is a strong marking target without being a contested marking threat. Additionally he is an above average set shot goal kicker which is another nice positive. As a defender McBean has shown that he has the ability spoil his man and do a defensive job while using it cleanly from the back half for someone of his height. Physically McBean has a long way to go and I don’t ever expect him to develop into a super powerful ruckman but with time there is the chance that he develops into a useful tall utility who can play
forward/back and some minutes as a no.2 ruck.

#31 Matthew Haynes (VIC - Util)
Height: 189cm, Weight: 76kg, DOB: 19/03/1994

Range: 15-55
Profile: Haynes is a really versatile line breaker. Really broke onto the scene in 2011 and for someone of his height, his pace is absolutely incredible! Just bursts and goes past everyone with ease and is incredibly difficult to run down. Also would be very interested to see his meters gained statistics because if you let him he would sprint the length of the field. I think he could become a very good back flanker at the next level but he does have the versatility to play on a wing or forward. The other strength with Haynes is his marking ability which is well above average. Haynes has played much of the season down back and his shutdown game is improving which to go along with his pace and ability to break the lines makes him intriguing. Kicking ability ok but I wouldn’t describe it as a feature of his game. I’ve been impressed on occasion with Haynes’ ability to kick at full pace and have been really surprised with his ability to hit a target when running at the speed Haynes does but also at times can choose the wrong option or slightly miss the intended target. I don’t see Haynes as an early draft selection as he doesn’t quite have enough strings to his bow for my liking but none the less is an exciting line breaker he could add something.

#50 Tim Sumner (SA – Mid/Fwd)
Height: 187cm, Weight: 83g, DOB: 09/10/1994
Range: 20-rookie
Profile: Sumner is one of the quickest players in the draft and at his height is one of the more interesting prospects. Sumner is not a noted ball winner and doesn’t get a lot of it but when he does he can with his pace do some big damage, generally using it well but ball use can lack consistency at times. Very dangerous around goal and good finisher around goal. With his pace could go from ok tackler to excellent tackler with more work.

Profile: I've been really encouraged with Fort's ability to take a contested grab and as the season has progressed we have seen him present as more of a marking threat around the ground. Fort is a very willing tackler and this is an area of his game that has shown great growth throughout the year and has in recent weeks has been a feature of his game. Tapwork good and like the rest of his game also seems to be improving rapidly, getting a hand on more balls but also showing that he can tap to the advantage of his midfield group. Fort contributes well around the ground and gets involved in the play. With Fort you just feel there is something to work with and from all reports he is a hard worker and add to that the strong improvement he has shown throughout the season and I see a lot more growth left in his game.

Always loved the way Clinton Young plays, and have heard from several sites ans sources we are keen on him, however I couldn't fit him in the squad, however it would be inevitable that he would be given the first game at least like Maric, Morris, Grigg and Houli all were.

As for Graham, I had to get my mother to type that in for me, it is painful. Unfortunately we can't delist all our ruckman. So Maric and Graham the two specialist ruckmen on our list (if you could call Graham one), Fort and McBean drafted, as well as one of Browne/Derickx re-rookied.

This buisness about Graham still being Contracted - is this fact ?

Also from my understanding we can delist graham of a trade is not achieved then if another team selects him he will no longer be part of our cap as another team has taken him on, we would only have to pay the difference of his ''new'' contract and what he was on - which shouldnt be a great deal as it would of been front loaded initially.

If he isnt picked up, we would then select him with our last rookie selection,and free up a spot on our senior list SAME goes for McGuane

Pretty happy with the list management at Richmond under blair hartley. Like the sydney philosphy of getting players in at competitive clubs that aren't getting game time (houli, grigg and maric). Think knights fits into this role. Very competitive midfield at ADE and you have to appreciate their depth, guns in danger and thompson with good players in sloane, vince, van berlo, mackay. Knights fits right into the rich midfield rotation. Given richmond needs more mid depth moloney should be on the radar. I rate him and while critics question his defensive and contested defencies i think he would be a great aquisation. Young also adds more depth to the outside but grigg is basically the same player but young would be in the best 22 imo.

All these players would compliment the stars in cotchin, deledio and martin but wouldn't it be good if they chased a gun mid like goddard. I know they are looking at adding to that core nucleus instead of making a big trade. Not sure on the salary cap situation and goddard would demand a big packet but he would be a great pickup.

On trading big restricted free agents i'd be pretty happy to see rich develop vickery and astbury instead of forking out big coin for cloke.

Matt White will surely seek and trade and you would think they will take a 3rd rounder or something similar. Also be happy to see rich take anything in the second round for post.

Robin Nahas and Shane Edwards are pretty similar players and wouldn't be too worried is one was picked over the other. Although i'd be pretty confused to see Jake King get picked over those two. Dan Jackson doesn't fit into the best 22 imo. Dont think he can play forward, butchers the ball too often. Think he's a genuine inside mid, although he's be a great tagger, in the same mould as crowley.

KPP don't grow on trees, Patfull and Maguire aren't gonna be around forever so it's a need for them. We got Maric for 37, they got Lisle for 29 and Port got Renouf for 33. Even Bomber rookie Josh Jenkins (and #31) got to the Crows for their second rounder.

I appreciate the effort of you post dean and it was a good read. Personally I'd have young in our side ahead of Plenty.
As for post I think he's different to a Jenkins as he was a bit untapped but talented.
Post has been out there and exposed plenty and the odds are long on him being any good really.

I know KPPs dont grow on trees and Post is evidence of that.
I'm 6 foot 4 and 100 kg but I'm not a KPP,certainly not a good one.Neither is Post.

He's an unrestricted free agent. Personally I'd love to get him, but I can't see him leaving a likely premiership team that he is in the best 22 of to come to Richmond

Unfortunately there's no chance of us getting Young.

Happy with the list changes, saw Derickx in the NAB and thought he was the next big ruck, injury does bad things to some players - ruined Edwards for the best part of twelve months, and as for Griffiths don't think we've seen the best of him yet - though one 60 meter punt this year was sheer brilliance. Still waiting to see Vickery do consistently good things, and we need cover for that role, so think McGuane should stay. His goal kicking is a tad woeful, but marking ability is up there with the best. Need cover for eeevan too, so happy to keep Graham until we've got a second fiddle who's consistently good. Don't need Browne as a ruck, the games he played last year were not memorable, in fact I think we lost most of them.
My only concern is that we get rid of these "bad" boys like Krakouer, and a few years down the track they come back as stars somewhere else. Would like to rookie Connors, as I reckon once he gets over his attitude and gets his act together he will be a top gun.
