How do you rate your midfield? We get the most heat of any team about having a poor midfield ("too slow, can't hit targets") but I think with the season ending injury to Coughlin, Richmond may have the poorest midefield.

Don't kid yourself, Richmond's midfield is superior to yours, but still isn't great. I only rate a single Collingwood midfielder now that bucks plays foward and thats Ben Johnson (not counting H Shaw because he normally play HBF).

Richmond's midfield may not be able to hit targets that well, but its a much younger midfield then Collingwoods. And damn its fast.

Skill -> Deledio, Coughlan, Brown, Bowden Johnson (not this season:( )

Speed -> Deledio, Foley, Tivendale, Hyde, Tambling, Polo, Howat

Hard Nut Clearence winners -> Foley, Tuck

Quality Tagger -> Johnson

Part-time decent taggers - Polo, Tivendale

Goal kicking ability -> Tuck, Deledio, Tivendale, Tambling, Hyde, Brown

Youth (under 21) -> Deledio, Tambling, Polo, Foley (these are blokes who play every week, on the sidelines we have other speedsters including Oakely-Nichools, Caserly, Edwards to name a few)

Part-time midfielders- Raines, P Bowden, J Bowden, Newman, Krakouer

For Collingwood:

Skill -> Johnson, Burns, Maxwell, Swan

Speed -> Shaw's, Thomas, Pendlebury, Johnson

Slow-> Licuria, Lockyer, O'Bree etc

Hard Nut Clearence winners -> Lockyer, Pendlebury??

Quality Tagger -> Lockyer?

Part-time decent taggers - Licura

Goal kicking ability -> Johnson, Thomas, Swan

Youth (under 21) -> Shaw, Pendlebury, Thomas (I'm not sure of you 2nd tier blokes)

Part-time midfielders- Buckley, H Shaw, ???

For Collingwood:

Skill -> Johnson, Burns, Swan, Lonie, H.Shaw

Speed -> Shaws X2, Thomas, Johnson

Slow-> Licuria, Lockyer, O'Bree, Burns

Hard Nut Clearence winners -> Burns, O'Bree, Licuria, Pendlebury, Swan

Quality Tagger -> Holland

Part-time decent taggers - Licuria, Lonie, Johnson

Goal kicking ability -> Johnson, Thomas, Swan, O'Bree, Lonie

Youth (under 21) -> Shaw, Pendlebury, Thomas (Iles, Nicholls, Davies, Dick, Toovey all mids closest to selection, Wellingham has huge raps on him also as does Mary Clarke)

Part-time midfielders- Buckley, H Shaw, Davis, Lockyer, Lonie, Didak, Egan

This is much better. Maxwell is a mid/key defender.

Don't think Brown will play althoughh only missed training due to a funeral. Terry said he was a doubtful starter and i also doubt whether Troy Simmonds will play as Terry also didnt sound confident at all. Although completed full training yesterday

For Collingwood:

Skill -> Johnson, Burns, Swan, Lonie, H.Shaw, Didak, Pendlebury, Davis, Bucks

Speed -> Shaws X2, Thomas, Johnson, Didak, Davis

Slow-> Licuria, Lockyer, O'Bree, Burns

Hard Nut Clearence winners -> Burns, O'Bree, Licuria, Pendlebury, Swan, Heath Shaw, Bucks

Quality Tagger -> Holland

Part-time decent taggers - Licuria, Lonie, Johnson, R.Shaw

Goal kicking ability -> Johnson, Thomas, Swan, O'Bree, Lonie, Didak, Davis (Licca and Tarks kick a few too).

Youth (under 21) -> Shaw, Pendlebury, Thomas (Iles, Nicholls, Davies, Dick, Toovey all mids closest to selection, Wellingham has huge raps on him also as does Mary Clarke)

I know you had them listed under part-time, but this year will have much bigger roles in the midfield, so I just altered a little bit for what would be my list.

^ Hellfire is about spot on for once, good post. I dont rate richmonds midfield, seriously deledio is OK, however i do rate him higher than licca as his speed is great, the rest are very average working class types.. We will know friday how much better our boys are.. I think by a long long way.

Richmond have a good core of midfielders. As much as Tambling gets crap thrown on him he has talent, Deledio is a definate future star, Coughlan if he can get on the park is a star and they have a good group of young tryers that may make up the core of their midfield, I may be harsh on Polo who may rise above the pack. However my concern is if the midfield doesn't turn out to be all it is cracked up to be then they are in trouble considering they concentrated so much of their recent recruiting policy on the midfield and have a rather uninspiring list of young talls. I have always been critical of Richmond's recruiting policy the year they got Tambling, Lids etc. because they were in a great position to use one of their earlier picks (not necessarily the ones they used on Tambling/Lids) on KPPs. Sure they used an earlier one on Pattison and Hughes but Richmond supporters were critical of Hawthorn picking up Franklin and Roughhead, this is why Hawthorn loves to bag Tambling. IMO if you take care of the spine with good young KPPs, they may take longer than midfielders, but good midfielders are dime a dozen and can be drafted in every year, at any round of the draft.

OK......I base my opinion on Richmond's midfield because Coughlin aint playing in 2007. Of the skilled players you named....lets face it....only two of those guys will see any serious time in the midfield and one of them (as per your comment) has not been particularly efficient with the pil so far.

Secondly, you only rate two players yourself with hard nut ball winning ability (I would have added another and Coughlin if he was playing)......but since you see your team more we'll roll with two. That's not good enough for an elite AFL team.

Yes you have spent many draft picks on beefing up the midfield and some of your later picks see more time in the middle....until Deludio and Tambling can play 80% of the game in the middle and be effective, I think you guys will suffer.

Got to say I do like the look of Foley though.

Deledio is a talent, but im not seeing much else, tambling is not and will never be an A grade player, he has big questions on his decision making, disposal is ineffectual and has bugger all impact.. A lot like leon or an even better comparison is a poor mans wells, has bursts of brilliance but realistically that is not maintainable throughout a game.. Thats obvious, he lacks the smarts too and will be at best B Grade. Thats being generous. The rest are all C Graders including Johnson who is just a tagger. Tuck cannot kick, the list goes on and on. Coughlan is their best mid by a country mile. I dont rate them except Deldio and Cogs who is out, the rest are untried, some look good, foley maybe rains but the jury is still out on them. If we lost this game id expect MM to throw the biggest axe we have seen for some time.

Barring Coughlan that's pretty much the midfield that beat you guys last year.

This is a must win game for the Tigers. If Simmonds doesn't play and Fraser and Richards can dominate in the ruck we'll be in a bit of trouble. Can't wait for Friday night.

I'm sure even 'Pies supporters would have a chuckle at that possibility? ;)

Although it might be a dead heat against Patto who is still very raw.

Dont worry if he is raw mate, im sure he will be up and about around 2011, Terry thinks thats when the mighty tigers will play in another final ;)
Id axe Richards for this game.

You mean contest for premiership.

I'll disregard your ignorance. ;)

LOL cmon its an educated guess, ignorance should not be misinterpreted, especially by a Richmond supporter. The last time your team made the Grandfinal lol, 2 finals in about 20 years lol :eek: . You dont honestly think wallet will hang around? he wont be around for long, Richmond have about the patience of a monkey in a banana factory. The only time Richmond mean anything to anyone is when they play their 1 good game a year against the mighty pies, after that the duds go back to being duds and the monkeys keep swinging from tree to tree, by 2011 the best thing you can hope for is a name change, Richmond Monkeys, its got a good ring to it and it really represents what the club is all about, bananas ;)

You called me ignorant because i dont believe a word Terry Wallet says and think richmonds a Shticlub, news flash champ, everyone thinks richmonds a shticlub and wallet is a tool. Anyway the Bananas might have a ripper tonight, they say even duds have 1 good game a year and its pretty obvious richmond save that 1 good game for us.. Seem to lift as if its their yearly final :D If we win by a big score surely the bananas in pajamas will be red hot favorites for the spoon.
