Some blues fans say they don't but I find that hard to believe because free memberships have to be allocated to someone, a name to the membership given out for free and thus will be included in their tally.

If cartoons are counting them that means they have added them to their overall tally and passed on to the AFL who will announce that tally.
The membership criteria has dropped off significantly hence why the eGirls have over 100K, their "waiting in the wings" membership which is around 15k+ on the waiting list. The cost is, $55 to go on the waiting list and $5 for other persons within the same family is now added to their membership tally.
