I would say just about all teams would have similar amounts of players at that levelPotentially have 4 players over 600k , it's bound to force cap pressure .
80% of the property in Lorne are in the names of current geelong players wifes, parents namesHow have Geelong managed it? Study them.

The same way we will Mate- players will want to stick together as a Group, seeking the ultimate reward. Cotchy and Martin are very close from what I am told and no way either will leave. Jack is VERY loyal and IMO, no way he will leave either. How have Geelong managed it? Study them.

Carlton - Judd,Murphy,Gibbs,Yarran
Hawks - Buddy,Roughy,Mitchell,Rioli
Pies - Swan,Cloke,Pendles,Thomas/Sidebottom/Beams
west coast - Selwood,Shuey,NicNat,Kennedy
Crows - Danger,Walker,Sloan,Thomson
Melb - Clark,Dawes,Trengove,Watts ( his contract would of been big but on todays form way too much)
The issue isn't whether we will loose one of our top 4 I am also fairly confident they'll all resign . It will however place greater pressure on other areas of our list and let's not forget we need to improve our list not just stagnate .The same way we will Mate- players will want to stick together as a Group, seeking the ultimate reward. Only leaves Reecey , Grimes and Rancey. All seem very happy within the team/Club and I do not see any circumstances where they will leave. Cats were the same, GA only leaving due to a relationship issue with Thompson? Do not see any such issue with Dimma, and expect us to keep whoever we want, as long as we are reasonable with terms!
I see where you are coming from but I do not think the three you mentioned will hold the Club to ransom. Lids on $600k+ per season? I would be really surprised. The issue isn't whether we will loose one of our top 4 I am also fairly confident they'll all resign . It wouldn't surprise me if our top 4 will be on more money collectively than any other clubs top 4 . Potentially our least reliable of those 4 has reportable signed for 600k for 5 years . Admittedly when he was vying for the title of our best player , however it was negligent at that time not to think he would be overtaking by Cotchin , Martin and Jack by the time they where due to resign new contracts , being this year .
I think it's more than reasonable to assume all 3 will be more important over the next 5 years and therefore will demand more cash and with 600k being the base the 3 of them could demand 2 -2.3 mill a season between them , which would see close to 3 mill between 4 players .
It's not about the players holding the club to ransom , they will take lesser than they would could get elsewhere , however they are entitled to their standing within the club , the figures I put up IMO are still very valid based on Lids' apparent contract. Sorry but with his inconsistency lids is not anything like a $500k player far less $600k . If he is on $600k IMO he is on at least $150k more than he is worth . i cant see how those better than him can be offered less in essence robbing the cap of $600 k a year minimum .I see where you are coming from but I do not think the three you mentioned will hold the Club to ransom. As I said, I think the playing group is a pretty tight bunch and will even take lower than they could get on the open market to stick together. Cotch has indicated that (about himself admittedly) in an interview he had recently. I am very confident we will retain all players we deem as required

Zero chance IMO- very much "one of the boys"Oh and I reckon we might have some issues signing dusty.. The way the club publicly outed him as immature, living with the president so they could keep an eye on him, couldn't cook his own meals, had no life skills was extremely amateur hour by the club. This should have been all kept in house. Hopefully he didn't get offended by it but I wouldn't be surprised if he did and decided to head over to GWS for a pay packet and less exposure/lower profile up in Sydney..

We will also most likely as you say retain relevant players but it reduces the capacity to improve the list .
Nah not a joke at all , for a player of his experience the amount of games during a year that he fails to have any impact and is clearly not in the best 5-6 players of the club , is not the consistency of a player worth 500k a year . The fact he has been doing it for 5 years , as you say , simply proves he is consistently , inconsistent .His inconsistency? Is that a joke? Lids is easily one of the most consistent players in the AFL, and would be second only to Cotchin at Richmond in the past 15 months (let's see Cotchin do it for 5 years before being sure of this though).
100% spot onI think this is all by design. Part of the FTF was to allow the club to front load everyone's contract to get up to the full salary cap thereby freeing up cap space in the future.
I.e. cap space is a use it or lose it asset so if you can afford to front load you should. if you don't do this you are at a disadvantage to other clubs who do.
I'm sure Benny was quoted somewhere saying this when explaining the reasons for the ftf .

Has he ever finished outside the top 5 in the b&f in his career?
I don't know, but I doubt it.
Almost never misses a game. Has trouble shaking a tag, but dominates games regularly. 2x b&f, AA last year.... what does he have to do to be top 5 at the club?
No 23's expiry date makes be do cartwheels!!!
Happy days!!!
Bye DJ (pssst.....take McGone with you)
