2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 4
Latest Match Result: Port Adelaide 14.8.92 defeated by Richmond 15.9.99
What a result. One of the best home and away wins by the club in a while. With their back against the wall the Tigers found away to win. Grimes was superb in defence, Lynch was a dominant force up forward, Ellis played his best game for years and the midfield managed to get the job done. Even better, the club looks to have found another young contributor with Jack Ross showing he is more than capable of being in an AFL midfield. Shane Edwards will lead the side as captain again but with Dustin Martin and Bachar Houli to return who will make way? A week is a long time in football as last week the list of potential players to drop was huge, now it's hard to even think of two unfortunate players to be dropped!

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 5
Latest Match Result: Richmond 13.1.89 defeated Sydney 10.7.67
A solid outing from the Tigers who pretty much controlled the game from start to finish. The young shoots continue to show signs while the likes Edwards, Grimes, Vlastuin and even Ellis continue to step up in the absence of Rance, Cotchin and Riewoldt. It was great to see Martin find some sort of form as he dominated up forward and through the middle. Despite the win, the short turnaround between games means changes are likely, with anyone showing some sign of soreness likely to be rested. Waiting in the wings to return to the side are the likes of Jack Graham, Dan Butler and vice captain Jack Riewoldt. A win against Melbourne this week will put the team in a great position at 4-2 with further senior players to return in the coming weeks but as we've seen many times this season already, a win is never assured with a 5% drop off in effort and commitment consigning teams to many surprise losses already.

I think we have to manage Stack and Ross, they aren't seasoned players but the way they play punishes their bodies and I don't want to see Stack get burnt out. Balta cannot play if Riewoldt is fit imo.

I think we have to manage Stack and Ross, they aren't seasoned players but the way they play punishes their bodies and I don't want to see Stack get burnt out. Balta cannot play if Riewoldt is fit imo.
I reckon we'll see quite a few rested this week. Rumours of Stack and Lynch being sore pre-game against Sydney. Rioli's corkie during the game, Balta and Ross both young. Anyone sore is a good chance to be rested.

Is Lambert injured or does the AFL website have the worse journalists in Australasia?

83% game time doesn't suggest anything was wrong with Lambert. Wouldn't be surprised if it's just a name plucked from nowhere.

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 6
Latest Match Result: Richmond 12.13.85 defeated Melbourne 6.6.42
The team is really starting to hit it's straps now with the pressure applied to opposition teams really ramping up. Melbourne didn't not what else to do other than parking the bus and in the end succumbed to the Tiger tidal wave in the last quarter. Vlastuin was superb in defence in a clearly best on ground performance but yet again it is the young players who are really getting the fans talking. Stack, Baker and Ross were all superb yet again and let's not forget that Higgins is only in his second year also. Stack's bump, speccy and torpedo were all highlights but the only lowlight is a medium term injury suffered by Riewoldt in his return game.

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 7
Latest Match Result: Western Bulldogs 15.9.99 defeated Richmond 7.10.52
Terribly disappointing result. The strong form of the last month counted for naught as the Dogs dominated all over the ground. Richmond's midfield was soundly beaten while Naughton dominated in the air all over the ground. Despite the trashing their were some bright spots with Stack and Baker both among the best for the team. Richmond eill be looking for a strong bounceback this week against an improved Fremantle team but winning in WA is never easy. Astbury is a likely inclusion but Vlastuin and Rioli are both under injury clouds; with several players under performing we could see several changes to the team this week.

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 8
Latest Match Result: Fremantle 12.14.86 defeated by Richmond 17.9.111
Great bounce-back game from the Tigers. The pressure was evident from the first bounce and the goals flowed early. Despite injuries to both Nankervis and Ross early in the game, the team ran over the top of Fremantle. Further promising games from youngsters like Stack, Baker and Bolton continue to provide a silver lining to all the injuries and this week Soldo will get his chance with Nankervis out for a couple of months. In the VFL, Naish continues to push his case for selection and could be a candidate to replace Ross while Chol stepped up as the primary target in attack with Moore out for the foreseeable future. Off the field Grigg announced his retirement and although most could see it coming, it's still sad to see Grigg bow out due to injury after nearly a decade of service to the club. Thanks for the memories Grigga, you will always be a Tiger Premiership playing legend!

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 9
Latest Match Result: Richmond 14.11.95 defeated Hawthorn 8.11.59
Another solid win from the Tigers. The final margin probably should have been a little closer but for most of this match Richmond were in control and one man lead the charge; Dustin Martin. Dusty had one of his better performances for a while as he dominated both through the midfield and as a forward target. Martin wasn't alone though with Prestia, Edwards and even Vlastuin joining in the midfield fun. Bachar Houli continued his strong performance this season while the redemption story of Brandon Ellis continues to shine. Ivan Soldo held firm in the ruck but after his 1 week suspension the big question is who will be first ruck this week? The obvious choice is Coleman-Jones but perhaps its the time to unleash Balta in the numero uno ruck role instead and see how high he can fly? If so, let's just hope he doesn't get too close to the sun.
Rank Last Week Weekly Change Player Notes Jumper No. Preseason Rank Season Change
1 2 +1 Dustin Martin Clearly his best game for the year and the sort of performance fans have been waiting for. The dominant player on the ground. 4 2 +1
2 1 -1 Tom Lynch Harassed by his opponent all day but still managed a handy 3 goals. 19 4 +2
3 3 0 Nick Vlastuin Moved into the midfield and responded in fantastic fashion. Is it just a temporary move or could we see more of this in the future? 1 13 +10
4 4 0 Kane Lambert Not quite as involved as previous weeks but still a very handy contributor through the midfield. 23 6 +2
5 5 0 Dylan Grimes Wasn't the massive career high disposal game like the week before but just as effective defensively. 2 11 +6
6 6 0 Dion Prestia Started the game strongly and led the midfield unit nicely alongside Dusty. 3 10 +4
7 7 0 Shane Edwards Absolute gun performance across half back. Has gone to a new level this season. 10 9 +2
8 8 0 David Astbury Astbury's turn to find the pill this week. 20 disposals with 12 marks and completely outplayed his opponent. 12 8 0
9 10 +1 Bachar Houli Another near BOG performance. Probably need to move him up these rankings a little as 30 disposals is becoming common for the half back. 14 18 +9
10 9 -1 Sydney Stack Didn't have the highlight play but perhaps that's even more impressive. Just a very, very good player in this team in just his first season. 44 41 +31
11 12 +1 Josh Caddy Another 3 goals from the forward. Shaping up to have another good year despite missing early games. 22 12 +1
12 11 -1 Jack Higgins Bounced back to some form after a quieter couple of weeks. Kicked a goal and set up another. 13 16 +4
13 13 0 Kamdyn McIntosh I've probably said this most weeks now, but another typical K-Mac performance. 33 20 +7
14 18 +4 Noah Balta Relished more time in the ruck and took a huge contested mark near the goal square. He's not getting dropped from this team for some time. 38 36 +22
15 17 +2 Brandon Ellis Continues to impress in his contract year. 35 touches with 13 marks is back to some of his best form of 5 years ago. 5 22 +7
16 15 -1 Liam Baker Hasn't been at his best the last couple of weeks and looked a tick off the pace against the Hawks. Still those disposals inside 50 are worth their weight in gold. 48 35 +19
17 16 -1 Shai Bolton Quiet game but you can see the potential with flashes of brilliance mixed in with moments of madness. 29 33 +16
18 14 -4 Toby Nankervis Injured. 25 7 -11
19 20 +1 Jason Castagna A fairly quiet game other than his goal. May be at risk of demotion. 11 24 +5
20 21 +1 Nathan Broad After his hiccup against WBD has responded well. Underrated member of the defence. 35 23 +3
21 23 +2 Ivan Soldo Looked very capable as a tap ruckman with numerous hitouts to advantage. Needs to get a bit more involved around the ground but very promising. Suspended this week. 47 29 +8
22 22 0 Connor Mendaue Looks more comfortable at AFL level but still on the fringe of selection. 60-40 chance of playing this week. 37 28 +6
23 19 -4 Daniel Rioli Played VFL and was off his best but will likely make his way back into the AFL team this week for the Dreamtime clash. 17 15 -8
24 25 +1 Ryan Garthwaite Got the job done again. Looks AFL capable. 42 26 +2
25 26 +1 Patrick Naish Continues to just rack it up in the VFL. One of the biggest improvers this year. 45 39 +14
26 27 +1 Dan Butler Great performance in the VFL and a good chance for a call up now. 7 17 -9
27 28 +1 Riley Collier-Dawkins Travelling emergency for the AFL team. 26 31 +4
28 24 -4 Jack Ross Injured and out for a while. 27 30 +2
29 29 0 Jacob Townsend A real leader of the VFL team and continues to stand up in the midfield with so many others out. 21 32 +3
30 31 +1 Callum Coleman-Jones You'd think he'd be in line for an AFL call up with Soldo suspended but 9 hitouts as the first ruck doesn't leave much confidence. I reckon he misses. 40 38 +8
31 32 +1 Mabior Chol 2 critical goals in the last quarter. Stood up when it counted. 41 44 +13
32 30 -2 Fraser Turner Finding plenty of the ball at VFL level. 28 40 +8
33 33 0 Oleg Markov A couple of games back from injury and easing his way into things now. 31 25 -8
34 34 0 Mav Weller Kicked a goal and contributed to the win. 16 27 -7
35 39 +4 Jake Aarts First time in a long time that he didn't kick a goal. One of his quieter games. 39 42 +7
36 40 +4 Derek Eggmolesse-Smith Looks a composed half back in the VFL which is a far cry from where he started. An important player for the VFL team. 43 45 +9
37 41 +4 Ben Miller Not threatening an AFL berth but improving as a player. 46 43 +6
38 36 -2 Luke English Overcame tonsillitis only to injure himself at training. Out a couple of months. 32 37 -1
39 35 -4 Jack Graham Injured. Could be back shortly. 34 21 -18

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 10
Latest Match Result: Richmond 10.13.73 defeated Essendon 6.14.50
Another Dreamtime win against the Bombers. In the end the margin was a lot closer than it should have been with Essendon making a late charge. Make no mistake though, Richmond dominated this game for most of the match and looked by far the better team. Houli continues to play some of his best games for the club while Edwards and Stack seemed to have all the time in the world with the rain pelting down around them. Baker and Balta had arguably their best games for the club with Baker finally earning a Rising Star nomination for a Richmond player. In an ominous sign for opponents, Martin is returning to some of his best form and Lynch continues to have a huge presence up forward. Cotchin and Soldo are both likely inclusions this week as the team slowly starts to regain some of it's soldiers; unfortunately that means there will be a few unlucky players to be demoted and this week I feel it may be Menadue and Coleman-Jones who draw the short straw.

2019 Richmond Tigers List Power Rankings - Round 11
Latest Match Result: North Melbourne 15.9.99 defeated Richmond 9.8.62
Disappointing week for Richmond. Beaten at the coalface and dominated in the air, for whatever reason Richmond just couldn't get their act together. Was it because of Marvel Stadium? Maybe? Whatever the reason, North Melbourne were simply to good on the night and really could have and should have won by more if not for a quickfire burst by Richmond late in the 2nd quarter. Despite the heavy defeat there were still some positives. Dustin Martin was dominant up forward, Cotchin returned from injury while Bachar Houli's blistering form continued. I may be sounding like a broken record but yet again Stack and Baker put in solid performances while Naish continues to push for a debut after another strong performance in the VFL. This week the team faces a firing Cats and all hands will be required on deck to pull this game out. Despite Naish's impressive form, this week I forecast just the one change with Townsend getting a call up to provide support for Lynch up forward.

A miserable game by Richmond. Similar to last week, smashed around the contest and beaten in the one on ones. Geelong were far to good with Richmond made to look second rate. Not many positives to take out of the night but the debut if Naish was certainly one. It is also quite nice to see Prestia put one of his best patches of form together recently. Unfortunately the news didn't get any better for the team this week with both Edwards and Cotchin ruled out with injury and the team must travel to the City of Churches to take on the improving Adelaide in a Thursday night game. With their backs to the wall, now is the time for unheralded players to step up and make a mark on the team. The likes of Stack, Baker and Naish have made their imprint during the season, will there be anybody else to join them this week?
