Most seem to still be bullish on him. Personally I'm not, I don't see it. He's not clean in any facet of the game, kicking, hand balling and ball handling all leave a fair bit to be desired. His defensive effort is poor as well, doesn't chase anywhere near as hard as he runs with the ball - the common excuse for that one is that he's tired.

His biggest strength is his burst speed, but without the clean hands he rarely gets to show it.

Dow is a case study in a junior gun’s game not translating to AFL. Would be good to see how he’d go with 10kgs stacked on, as he has the read he just doesn’t have the frame to compete at the stoppages.

He does have reasonably pace and goal sense (despite a horrible set shot), so maybe we can develop him as a mid-sized forward.

I think best case scenario is he finds some specific niche and becomes a decent role player, ala Jake Melksham.

Not a chance. Jake Melksham is a beautiful deliverer inside 50.

Rhys Palmer maybe....

Richmond fans think as soon as their team isn’t playing well they aren’t trying - classic.

I’m not sure we continue on with the season given the Richmond team can not only win games of football, but actually compromise the free will of their opposition.

We hear the same rubbish comments from Blues supporters after their Round 1 loss every year.

Good on Carlton for trying hard in their loss :thumbsu:

Are Carlton fans still living in denial about were there club currently sits in the pecking order of power clubs they talk down to other clubs supporters when they are living of former glory’s from decades ago !

BUT SERIOUSLY!

We have a large supporter base and are the best sporting club in the world.

Can't deny it.

Competitive effort from the blues to dominate time in forward half when they did but think their defensive system let them down just as much as lack of polish in forward line though Tiger pressure a factor. Too many easy Tiger goals.

Two teams at different stages one building from ground up yet to be determined if on the right path, would be worried about the age profile, lots old lots young how many in the middle.
Tigers a multi flag winning team trying to extend their success. Result within range of expectations.

Bit of double standards at play with the old ‘Richmond didn’t get out of 2nd gear in the 3rd quarter.’

Did we get out of second gear in the first?

The 20 point margin was pretty indicative of the game. We had an opportunity to peg back the lead in the 2nd, but were inaccurate, and they rolled over the top to put the game out of reach.

We then dominated general play in the second half, and actually started getting some scoreboard reward and really troubled their defence.
No Carlton were just s**t in the first

The umpiring was poor in both directions. Lambert was gifted a goal, there was a mark to Walsh on half-forward that wasn’t paid that ended up in a goal as Richmond ferried the ball up the other end and also a blatant holding the ball to Soldo in the middle of the ground that resulted in a Richmond goal. Those calls were as important in setting up Richmond’s lead. Especially the Walsh non-decision as we were desperately trying to steady.

Richmond supporters love telling themselves their team wasn’t really trying as a convenient out, but the fact was Carlton was killing it around the ground and finally maintaining possession, shutting the Tigers out defensively as well.

It was only when the usual suspects Martin and Prestia stepped up (again) our momentum was halted.
Mate we are better than you , count yourself lucky we cruised for over a half and made the scoreboard look respectable

Different year, same Carlton. Blues were diabolical tonight. Richmond were so much better, in a totally different league.

Nice observation genius, no s**t Richmond are a different league. They are currently a different league to every team.

One is the reigning premier who has thrashed many top 8 teams over the last 3 years, the other finished low on the ladder and sacked their coach last season...yet a 24 point loss is diabolical? Did you even watch last year's GF?

Because there are a number of threads about "Who is the Big 4?" - please have a search for one and join in there.
But it’s ok for someone to have a thread on the main board questioning st kilda standing as a club but not a thread on Carlton’s ? just a slight set of double standards here and abuse of power buy the moderator

There are TONS AND TONS AND TONS of threads questioning Carlton as part of the Big 4. At least two, anyway. There is no need to start a new one.

Go to the Bay if you want to start another troll thread about this.
