Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

I have no problem with 9 out of 10 footy followers preferring Martin to Scully or Trengove, but I wouldn't trade either for Martin. Right now Martin impacts games more than the other two, Martin is a better kick than the other two and Martin has more 'x' factor than the other two. But I love Trengove as a footballer. I love his class, poise, decision making skills, endurance, and marking ability. I see him as a captain of the club in a couple of years.

Save for our round 24 match, Trengove plays the entire home and away season as a 19 year old. I also love what Scully brings to the team.

Half way through their second years it's way too early to definitively say who's going to have the best career. Way too early. But I know it won't stop you.

No it won't, especially when Martin has already being compared to one of the greatest (if not the best) modern day marvels in Leigh Matthews!

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

I remember hearing last off season how Scully and Trengove were going to be better in 2011 than Martin, because Martin had a head start because of his frame. Well, that didn't happen. Martin also apparently had no room for improvement, and yet improved more than the other two.

What's with the Melbourne blogs making excuses about Martin's frame being the difference between him and the Dee boys in Scully and Trengove? Sorry to say Dee-Heads, but Rich's frame is also on the larger scale whilst he stuggled in his second year in the comp, so don't feed us that crap!

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

You wouldn't tugga because Vickery is a resting ruck and would get smashed. On the same token Watts is not a KPD either so I don't know what point Bazzar is ultimately trying to make. Watts is being played down the ground as part of his long term development but he is still a forward.

Bewildering move, I say! Why not play him up forward from the beginning? Young JR did not win a Coleman Medal by starting his career in defence!

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

Have fun taking swings at the club for off field nonsense, I thought I might get some insight on the matchups etc.

Let's just wait and see what happens, should be a cracker! 60k plus and a sign of good things to come from both sides, for what its worth I am tipping the Tiges by a way

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

You do realise that as of 17/06/11: Members- RFC= 47,305 MFC= 36,433 and that's all that really matters to the AFL? But yes go ahead and hang you're little hat on the "but but our conversion rate is better" argument

The fact is the MFC are an insipid football club, from their coach to their fair weathered supporters... you need media clowns like Lyon and Healy to use reverse psychology to try and get the boys up because they know your coach is that incompetent. I mean hell, you'll even use the specter of your sick president far too often when the cards are down for some sort of inspiration (not meant to be offensive to Jim Stynes in any way, best of luck to him). What a joke.

In this great city we are lucky to have some champion Melbourne teams... The Melbourne Storm, the Melbourne Victory........ and then the come the "Mighty" Melbourne Demons

Ah well 2 out of 3 ain't bad I guess... :)

Well executed.

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

So when Watts does the usual and plays loose in the back half looking for cheap uncontested possessions, .

You mean the same position that Richo played when he finally did anything of note away from Commercial Road???

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

Thread is getting out of hand.
Keep the talk about the game.
Pot shots just open up the thread to be a free for all pissing contest.
Melbourne fans, you are welcome here, but keep the talk about the game and remember that you are guests on our board.
Fellow Tigers, try and be better than what you have been in the last few pages of this thread. Nothing is really gained from throwing around stereotypes of opposition clubs.
The game is going to be a beauty - plenty to talk about.

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

I really cannot wait until the final teams are announced this afternoon, I will be back here after the announcement to go over the key announcements, Melbourne has some clouds over who will be playing, there is some on the Richmond side too.

Should be great to discuss them upon being announced.

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

I think we are lucky that Kingy got rubbed out. Bartrum would have killed him, hands down. Don't get me wrong, I love King, but Bartrum is a good tagger. Wouldn't mind seeing him in the black and yella.

So will Nahas get the tag?

Glad your not on our recruiting staff

Happy to go head to head with all their other mids.

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

Well we've all gotta be a noob at some time.... I love Kingy, but I just think Bartrum does a good job on him. Tiges by 16.

Perhaps you should mention that to the OP of Rich V Melb match on the Melbourne board. Seems their Mods & ours have differing views on this.

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

I'd love to see if Hardwick has the balls to put Vickery on Watts.:thumbsu:

If Watts was put in defense on Vickery, Vickery would smash him, thats not to say Watts is a bad player but a defender he isn't.

I can't control what goes on, on other boards.
But on this board, I would like posters to argue their point and be civil to one another.

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

griffiths a chance to return this week i believe. the club said at the start of the year that miller would only play 7-8 games for the year.(that might have changed seeing how good the teams going) but i have high hopes that miller will be dropped for griffiths if not griff then miller should not be dropped

Re: Richmond v Melbourne Round 14

But do we play a forward we want to see on the park, or a forward who will rip his old team apart? If Griffiths was up to it, we wouldn't have taken Pia. I mean Miller.

Was always going to play a few Coburg matches for fitness but I couldn't see him coming in until either:

a) He is BOG, or in the bests for a couple of weeks
b) the side loses.

Doubt he'l come into a winning side on the back of not even being named in the best at Coburg.

im just going by what the club said at the start of the year and that griff has had a month or so in the vfl(he seems to be doing fine by all the reports).im just putting the two things together. i would love miller to stay in this week but if they think griff is ready and miller has done whats been required of him then by all means play the kid but either way its a win win situation for the club
