Tiges should finish at their traditional middle-of-the-road position i.e about 10th. Pies will be bottom 4 in 2007. Their list is pretty ordinary ATM, but it was a good sign that they finally offloaded some oridnaries. Aging list, and lack of leg-speed, especially in the middle, are the Pies mains problem. They'll bottom out over the next year or 2. :)

How was it again?

Ricciuto to Raines 2006.

"There will be no hanging on today boy."

I know who won that day.

Collingwood, soft draw, big money, big names and still nothing.

Who is Thusty the FB. And Polak at CHB. Wasn't even in the Frocklers best 25 players this year.
When you see the backline written down like that in front of you, you realise just how bad it could be next year.
I'll go Pies to finish higher in around 13th - 14th spot.

Quite sad to see Richmond supporters still bringing that up. If you didnt play such a **** style of play the crows would have won by 15 goals with Ricciuto kicking 8.

I wonder if Raines was ever one on one with Ricciuto.

I doubt it.

never one out

richmond simply wasted half of that game by playing kick to kick

good on em for winning, but trumpeting raines performance that day is a massive stretch. It wasn't him that kept ricciuto out of the game, it was smart coaching from wallet

In reference to the posed question

it will be close i reckon

people forget that the pies were percentage from finishing 4th last year
collingwood also beat both GF teams during the H&A, think richmond copped 100+ beltings from both!

Against the quality teams the pies showed we can match it, Richmond showed they were miles off the pace.

Taz & Dids missing will hurt us

will richmonds younger players step up from promising to consistently producing the goods???

i reckon pies 7th, and a couple of big finals wins
richmond 8th and out first week of the finals

According to the Pies supporters on here they should finish higher than the Tigers do and I have a question for them, What will the excuse be if you don't and you have little injuries, a favourable draw - 15 games at the 'G and another 3-4 at TD?

perhaps we could go down the rebuilding line as the tiggers supporters tend to use

ie picks 8,10 in 06 draft
picks 2, 5 in 05 draft.....thomas, pendles
04 draft, egan, t.cloke, rusling

will all get plenty of game time next year

so perhaps we are rebuilding??

Stark difference between them in 2006. Collingwood may struggle to maintain the same spot, cant see the tigers rising much either.

2006 Home and Away Ladder.

5th Collingwood 14 0 8 119.34

9th Richmond 11 0 11 86.15

I guess the 04-05 years were the rebuilding for 1 big push at 06 which came up short and the 07-08 seasons will be the rebuild for 1 big push in 09. The problem is the Pies supporters pushed the rebuilding line in 04-05 and start of 06 they were back where they belonged, then 2007 the rebuild begins again. The Tigers started the rebuild in 04 and have been consistent with that through the last few years while the Pies just chop and change like the Melbourne weather.

????

04 was a disastrous year
05 was a write off due to injury, and potential tanking

never mentioned as rebuilding years

clubs like richmond, hawthorn etc. use terms like rebuilding to help soften the blow that they are poor.

How long have Richmond been rebuilding for???

What is richmonds excuse if they dont do anything next year

Richmond started rebuilding when Wallace came to the club - 5 selections int he top 20 of the '04 draft (Deledio, Tambling, Meyer, Pattison, Polo) is a pretty strong indicator of this.

We were also able to have a decent crop with some late picks in the previous draft which added to this (Tuck, Raines, Hartigan etc.).

Fair to say next year is our 3rd season of rebuilding.

Last season we won 3 of our last 4, dispite having every 2nd player injuryed -tanking?

What is richmonds excuse if they dont do anything next year

Richmond will start to be a decent side as we build around the 2004 crop and the mature together, 2008 onwards IMO.

Fair to say we are much closer than Collingwood, who are rubbish.

My own opinion is for the Tigers to finish between 7th-10th next season again assuming no injuries and a favourable draw (7th best case). A few injuries and a horror draw similar to this year and with general improvement in the list they should still get somewhere near this year if they do not want to be seen as going backwards. However as I said since Wallace has been at the club we have stuck with the rebuild line even when we had a great start in 2004 sitting near the top we still said it was rebuild time. The Pies since 2002-03 GF's have been near winning a flag to 2004-2005 years ruined by injury and rebuilding to 2006 back at the top, post round 12 we are still developing players, to losing the first round of the finals, the kids are still young/older players were injured. All I am really after is a consistent line from the Pies supporters not a different line to support the current state of the club/list.

Would've won blah blah blah...but they didn't. If they weren't robots maybe they could've adjusted their gameplay, oh, anytime in the four quarters that it went on. Just...needed...to...man...up...

Truth hurts. I was at the game and they were one on one plenty of times. Were you at the game?

I doubt it.

I predict Richmond and Collingwood if they make the 8 will both be out first week. If you think you're going to win 2 finals you're deluded.

Collingwood will never win a flag under Malthouse. (Collingwood so need a change of coach. It would be the best thing for them.)

Richmond may win won under Wallace. Much as I dislike Wallace and his ego, he can coach the socks off Malthouse.

Richmond will finish higher than Collingwood. Collingwood has the tough draw this year and Richmond the easy draw - due to playing finals and not.

Richmond supporters crack me up.

Look at the way they are over rating their list and what the tigers will achieve vis a vis Collingwood in 2006.

The way they over rate Wallace and Millar is also right up there, not to mention what they expect from Pollak and rating their defence as decent.

Your club had a percentage of about 86% in 2006, will need to come on massively to contend in 2007.

Tigers will struggle to make the 8, Collingwood might be lucky and sneak into 8th.
