Fitter, faster, stronger, bigger heart

The boy's got another 5 years of footy in him at this level

They better not do to Richo what they did to Knighter, because that will be the last straw.

Knowing Richo he will keep saying he wants to play "just one more season" every year for the next 5 years, and how can you say no?

He'll hang his boots up when he feels he hasn't got much to offer the team. Hopefully this is in another 4 years so he can win us some finals :thumbsu:

Richo, Richo, Richo......where do we start with Richo?

Ok, if we start with the straight up Black & White of footballing contributions to AFL. We have the good players, those that contribute to their club with good performances and then the players that seem to have done nothing or contribute little to their club. So we have those that have helped a club and those that haven't.

Then we have a very rare and unique category. And you can't find many of these guys. Those that actually hurt a club. And that my friends, over this long journey is what Matthew Richardson has done to the RFC. He has hurt the progression of the club. Richo has cost us more games and more lost opportunities than ANY player that has represented the RFC.

Go back to Saturday night. (Yeh, I was there, and the Richo/Michael incident was right in front of me. Forget how you see the rule. You currently can't touch a man's back. Richo did. And to make matters worse, he played, yes this forward played on and cost us a 50 m penalty. Even if he had the brains just to settle and take the mark, then it just would have been a straight free from that spot. But not ol 'brain drain' Richo, again he had to screw us up and set the ball in motion down field.

The missed chances and bad decision making this guy has made in his career are beyond ANY players. The years we spent at 9th are due to the chances he missed, fluffed and screwed up during those home & away matches. He has made more blues than given us match winning performances. And you cannot say that about any other Forward in history.

You can go back to when he was a kid playing for us. Out at Waverley we played the Swans and in the dying minutes he c#cked up in the goal square to allow the Swans to just sneak past us. I walked away forgiving this young kid this mistake, but the guy has never changed.

One on one, he is a great sight. Pray that if he marks it he kicks like an AFL football instead of a 3 y.o. Watch when the ball bobbles and he grabs it. He gets run down, he freezes or makes a poor decision. This coming from the man who runs like a massive gazelle. Don't be fooled, his brain freezes and inablity to think at ground level all adds up to create a unique football make-up. Training, various coaches and being in the system for so long has not helped.
Matthew Richardson is a superb athlete. Matthew Richardson also has no football brain.
He plays on, at the wrong times.
He picks the wrong option time and time again.
He doesn't think in football traffic - he freezes.
He makes the simple difficult and makes himself nervous.
He cannot apply system to his game. He cannot perfect a kicking drill and kicks into the man on the mark.
He can't analyse his game. Because his arms are up, he thinks he's in the best position.
His first option in a marking situation is to find, physically his opponent.
(Jonathan Brown or Hall or Lloyds first reaction is to get to the ball - the natural instinct)
He is more concerned with his appearance in the game. Actually, he is unsure of his presence in the game, hence the need to constantly look up at the screen.
He has no awareness of umpiring decisions and there repercussions.
(A schoolboy knows umpires rarely reverse decisions)
He has no awareness of what impression his outward signs of dissent on fellow teammates shows to your club - and the opposition.

I must admit that on Saturday night I admired Richo's courage to play for the club. That showed a big heart for a club 0-8. He didn't need to play.

But while his goals helped us get close to the Bombers, as usual he had a hand it stopping us winning, like he has done with bad kicking and bad decision making in the past of many, many years. Since Richo first started I have walked away from more games cursing him than praising him. And I cannot say that about any other Richmond player.

Those that idol worship Richo, really need a reality check.
Even those that don't barrack for the Tiges feel sorry for him.
But speak to someone who knows about football long term and way him up against those forwards from the past.
Most think he is a joke.

Richo is our flawed Champ, but as we have achieved nothing with Richo and we are no better for having him, results and footage from his time will show he actually hurt our club. Richo has cost us more games than won for us.
Saturday night just shows that nothing has changed from his early days now that he is a veteran.

I realise that few will agree with me, but I also witnessed a whole lot of sheep on Saturday night chanting his name. I've waited all these years for this guy to actually help our club, so I guess I will be waiting a while longer until I get a chance to chant.
If ever?

He's a champion. I bet Richo has a better goal kicking accuracy than Jonathon Brown. Brown misses alot of goals. Even brad Johnson misses alot of pretty easy goals.

The worst post I've ever had the misfortune of reading. I bet you feel pretty smug after writing that crap and maybe even feel that someone out there may actually believe that you know something about our great game and club. Matthew Richardson is Richmond through and through and nobody has ever tried harder. You state that he's lost games for us. Most of those games we would have never even been in the position to win if not for him. No-one reckons he's a joke and on Saturday night he showed that he is a leader, playing with a fractured eye socket when we're 0-8. Not just playing but kicking 4 crucial goals and was perhaps robbed of a 5th.

I hope you never do chant his name. I bet you've chanted your own name a fair bit in the privacy of your own room with only yourself for company. Get off this board and barrack for someone else. Richo is off limits pal.

This is the most ill-conceived piece of rubbish I have ever read on bigfooty.

I bet you would say none of that to Richo's face, you coward.

To say that Richo has hurt your club is absolute nonsense. Probably could've rotated Jurica, Brett Evans, Ray Hall and Shane Morrison through centre-half-forward instead - I'm sure you would've won more games.

Richo is a champion of your club, and indeed the game, who deserves better.

in some peoples eyes (not mine) richo may / may not have lost us the game on sat. nite. but we would have been nowhere near winning if he had not have played. not only does he kick goals, he creates oppurtunities by bringing the ball to ground at every contest. He does not get outmarked.

this is easily the worst opinion i have come across - agree with everything russ74 said. GET OUTTA HERE!!!

Firstly Deliberate, i must say you are certified heck w i t and an embarasment to ALL true Tiger supporters.:thumbsd:

Second, the above about "young" Richo, you can enlighten me, but was that againsed Dunkley when it was a Richo free but not paid? I remember that and if it was the one you are being very harsh.

 You are a disgrace. Those who have any idea about football know that Richardson not only isn't a great player, but a champion. Kouta once said when asked who he thinks is the best player in the comp. at his peak and he named Richo. Carey constantly refers to Richardson as a champion, as do many other football people in the know. You have no idea and are a disgrace to all Tiger supporters. It's c..k suckers like you who piss me off no end. :thumbsd:

GO TIGES!!!

:thumbsu: Great post. If you were at the ground 'deliberate', and you were next to me, i'd smash the #$#$# out of you and throw my beer in your face.

GO TIGES!!!
