Lloyd finished 2nd in Essendon's B&F, Richo finished 3rd in Richmond's.

We had Richard Cole ;) Oh and the fact that we were one of the teams you actually beat, nearly twice if not for a Richo push in the back.

HA!

Richo lost the game for Richmond, Lloydy won the game for Essendon.

I think there's no doubt Richo could have been better than Lloydy, but one thing that seperates them by the proverbial country mile is lloyds ability to break a game open, and for Richo to completely **** it for his side.

Both champions, but there is no doubt in my mind that Lloydy comes out in front. So far. But I cant see Lloydy slowing down, not before Richo anyway.

No shit. How did Richo get so many ****ing marks if he had absolutley woeful delivery?

Because he's the best contested mark in the AFL.

Tough one

Lloyd the better player over their careers but at the moment Richo is easily playing the better football and arguably the best either has played.

Can I choose Pav ;)

So he took grabs even when the ball was no-where near? ****, he must of been good.

Agree with Carey.

Lloyd obviously still better.

Nah, Your memory is playing up on you.

Can I choose Pav ;)

Apologize for that remark!

You know what, just last year I thought Richo was incredibly underrated.

Now I know he's incredibly overrated. Either that or Lloyd is criminally underrated. Richo wasn't THAT much better than Lloyd last year, and that was one of Lloyds mediocre years!!!

As fullforwards=Lloyd buy a long margin.
Richo is a gun, and at his age still playing great footy, all i can say is:thumbsu:

lloyd has had the luxury of sitting deep in the forward line of a team that has been dominant 99 00 01 especially

lloyd gets measured on goals kicked

Richo hasnt kicked as many goals but has been the better player in my book

Richo is a better contested mark and better at getting the ball generally, but he can't kick and kicking is big part of the game. Lloyd is an elite kick and is not that far behind Richo in other areas, he is consequently a better overall player.

Don't know what you mean by Richo can't kick.

Richo has had far too many terrible games ala tonight game. Inconsistent disposals, decisions and behaviour. Lloyd is far more consistent and polished. Yes richo has x factor, but that's not always good.

His kicking skills are ordinary. You're a Richmond supporter, surely you've seen him play enough to notice this.
unfortunately for Richo, his missed set shots from 10-25 out are just about the only ones people remember. Countless times i have seen Richo nail majors from 50 out on the boundary

Lloyd better than Richo?

That's a joke.

Lloyd is a good full forward, at his best he was an excellent full forward.
He's kicked more goals, but he has the advantage over Richardson in that Lloyd played in a side that's had a few fairly good years over his whole career and been dominant for a couple of years. It's a lot easier to kick goals in a better side.

Richo has played in a dud side for the last decade (except maybe one or two decent years) and still managed to average around 3 goals a game.

Richo has also had to deal with being double and tripple teamed and utterly man handled for little sympathy from the umpires while at times if defenders sneeze at Lloyd the umpire gives him a free kick.

Richardson has won and saved countless games for us in recent times. You don't often see Lloyd having 25 possesion 15 mark 4 goal games running all over the ground.

Richo is 34 and playing on the wing, coming 3rd in the brownlow. The guy has been the best contested mark in the AFL for nearly 10 years.
He's won Richmond's leading goalkicker something like 11(?) times.

Richo is more versatile in that he can play a variety of roles and positions.
(Wing, CHF, FF, floating back in defence, around the ground)
Lloyd can't do anything but mark and kick.
Richo can't kick for goal. But has somehow kicked over 700 goals.

We'l see how Lloyd goes when he's Richo's age. I bet he'l be retired before 35. Richo won't.

It's not even close, Richo better now and better over his career.

Ever consider Lloyd was one of the major reasons Essendon were a better side, while Richo was having tantrums Lloyd was making second efforts. Stats are crap aswell, Richo is ahead but has played 24 more games, and Lloyd has played about 15 more finals, so more of his footy has been against better quality opposition.

Richo also averages the sames frees per game over his career so that is also crap.

Sure Lloyd doesn't get as much of the ball but you don't see Richo chase, tackle or lay bumps for his teams mates unlike Matty.

You say Richo can kick because of his 780 odd goals, but thats from about 1400 scoring attemtps not including his out of bounds of the fulls... where as Lloyd has kicked nearly 900 from 1280 odd attempts.

Lloyd is now reinventing himself to play further up the ground, sure he isn't as good at it as Richo but Richo wasn't even close to how good Lloyd was as forward target.

If this poll was done at the start of 2008 it would've been a landslide victory to Lloyd...funny how the collective memories of BF last about 6 weeks :o

Over there whole career you would surely think Matthew Lloyd would win out of the two , but I must admit Richo at the moment wins hands down but in saying that when lloyd was pushed up the ground last year he was doing a good job!
