If the club trades Shoenmakers for Thornton, I'm going to go straight out to Waverley and burn the grandstand down. That is sheer lunacy.

I'll light the match!
In fact, I'm willing to go further...if we get thornton, i'll burn down the grandstand!

Hate to agree with a Blues fan, but that is the rumour "News coming in, a trade will occur between Carlton and Hawthorn, the hawks will receive blues full back Bret Thornton in exchange for either Rick Ladson or Ryan Shoenmakers, its expected 2 be ryan shoenmakers so i would be a very happy hawks man if that deal occurs, but is definite that bret thornton is coming to the hawks in exchange for ladson or shoenmakers"

Why would we be considering trading a young early draft pick for a guy at the end of his career? Madness!!

Like trading in your Beemer for a Hyundai Excel.

Utter crap.

Just the kind of player we want. The type that doesn't care if he is on our list next year

Happy to see Ladson move on to be honest. Don't think there is any decent footy left in him.

Dont quite agree, Laddo has had a couple of average years injury 09 and dealing with his ol mans passing 10, everyone deals wth these things differently. Was pick 18 from memory, great skills and a premiership player who is sill only 26yo, so I think he still has some currency left if a trade does come up, but on the other hand if he could get it all together and a bit of luck on the injury front he could still press for senoir selection, should have 4-5 years of good footy left in him, you would think, look at guys like Leigh Brown, was pretty muched finished got thrown a life line and was a major contributor in grabbing a flag for the pies, as much as that hurts lol

had a couple of tough years with injuries

a rare beast on the hawthorn list:

a defender who is willing and able to lock down opposition player and sacrifice his own game rather than getting cheap kicks on the half bank flank

one of the hardest working and determined in lost final this year

he is more value to the hawks than most other clubs so we would never get what he's worth

get him fit and let him settle in to one position

Good call - we'd get very little for him.

26yo - has had knee problems, but good team player with good skills.

The interchange rule changes may help him.

If the game slows down a little it could help the genuine footballers.

uses it well when he has it. perhaps he could be used as a tagger if he remains at Hawthorn. He should be better if he can have a good preseason.

Just as a matter of interest, and it has not worked out that way, but when first drafted Crawford anointed Ladson as his protege with the words "You are going to be me".

Probably not a great wordsmith our Shane (apart from that brilliant call thatswhatimtalkinabout) but that was the regard that Ladson was held.
