Through various avenues in life I have been given the opportunity to set up an interview with Ricky Nixon, yes the real Ricky Nixon!

We've decided to open things up to the BigFooty community to ask questions for Ricky to answer in the interview. Effectively we want to do something of an AMA, right here on BigFooty. After rounding up as many questions from the community as we can, we'll give them to Ricky to answer and it'll be posted up on the site in due time.

Obviously it would be nice to keep things as clean and footy focused as possible. This really is a great opportunity to get insight into someone who was once not only a player and agent to the footy elite that includeded the likes of Wayne Carey, Matthew Richardson, Tony Lockett...the list goes on! Now also Ricky has a book telling his story through those times and beyond, so there's really no better time to get further insight into Ricky.

With this, there will be a giveaway of Ricky's book 'My Side' - to which a number of the best questions in this thread will come away with a copy.

So let's hear your questions!

the game is starting to feel like watered down commercial rock... what does the game need to do to bring back the characters and the interest?

it feels like the fans are being left behind in the search of more money and a cleaner image (even though we still end up with controversies, so you have to wonder if this is even a benefit at all)

Why don’t you move on with your life? You’re clearly finished with footy, and footy is finished with you, why keep bringing up the embarrassments of the past? Why not move on to a new career, find some fulfilment and make your family and friends proud? Do you enjoy being a bit of a circus act?

Ricky, what were some of the best/worse midnight or early morning calls you received as a player agent?

What sort of underhanded tactics did journalists use to try and pry information from you or your players?

Any journalists in particular that you found difficult to work with?

Playing your last game against Adelaide in a losing effort in a 1993 Elimination Final, you picked up a respectable 14 disposals and a goal and had kicked a goal in each of your four outings in 1993. Although you'd struggled to break into the Hawthorn side, did you feel that you still had more football ahead of you or did you already know that your playing career was over?

As a player agent, who were the best clubs to deal with? why?

How do you feel about the more controversial deals such as Buddy Franklins move to Sydney and Tom Boyds move and contract with the Bulldogs?
