I think he has lost respect from most Aussies. To go and question the spirit of Australia's game was just beyond poor.

I have to agree with a lot of the comments on here, especially from MBP... and have to say that as a spectator of cricket, I don't care if a player decides not to walk, or over-do an appeal to influence the umpire. And to be honest, in the sporting arena, I'm not too fussed about integrity in sport (unless, of course, it is an illegality such as match-fixing or drugs). Remember, these guys are paid to do just one thing- win. So what if the players decided to stand their ground. Their job is to win- it is what they get paid to do. The umpires job is to make the decision whether the player is out or not- that is what they get paid to do. In a game where you get paid lots of money to remain victorious, you would be stupid to start walking before the umpires finger goes up.

If Clarke hadn't had that killer over, this would all be a moot point. Its sour grapes by Kumble, a man that I had mountains of respect for. And I wonder how much his comments were meant to take some of the heat away from Harbarjhan. On that topic, this is the farce in world cricket today. And I can't understand the irony of a country like India allowing their players to show such dissent- these guys would cop a pile of it because of the colour of their skin. And the irony lies in the fact that they have again targeted the only black player in the Australian team with stupid immature comments. This is why racism will never die out- the vilified become the vilifiers in a vicious circle.

They had Australia on the rack after the first 3 hours of the test match, yet found themselves on the rack in the last three hours.

Its funny to see that on this board that poor umpiring is accepted because Australia won but if the Kangaroos get a bad dose we are up in arms.

The fact is that Symonds was gone not once but twice in the first innings,
Ponting was out before his lbw and Dravid was most certainly not out.

The Indians are more than entitled to have a sook.

Australia play within the "spirit of cricket" but only while things are going their way. The minute things turn tough, as they did on Saturday, incidents occur. The whole Harbajahn thing started with a playful tap on Lee's bum by Harbajahn which Symonds (not Lee) decided to take offence to.

I'm sure the Aussies practice their appealing just to put added pressure on the umpires. The umps are such duds (and seemingly anxious to please their hosts) that they end up cracking under the relentless pressure.

Gilchrist is so "fair" that when he appeals everyone thinks it must be out. That Dravid one was a shocker. Earlier on there was a massive appeal for a catch against Kumble but the replay showed he'd hit it into the ground then onto his boot. Bring in the technology to help the umpires. Please!!!

How about not walking when you know your out and Im not just talking about Symonds. Michael Clarke did the same thing. Surely you dont need the umpire to put his finger up when you know you have hit it and have clearly been caught.

How about also appealing for a catch when you know that the batsman didnt hit it which was what happened with Dravid.

Also remember how Ian Botham had to bowl around that Fat umpire years back? That's the sort of horseshit sides have had to put up with playing in India for years.

Swings and roundabouts, Dravid got away with a plumb LBW that Billy Bowden missed in the Melbourne Test. Everyone gets good ones and bad ones. And the Indians should be the last ones to whinge about umpiring and not playing in the spirit of the game, the intimidation of umpires on the sub-continent is discaceful, if you have Foxtel and watch some of the games telcast from there you'll know what I mean. Go back a few more years to when home umjpires stood in Tests and the blatant hometown decisions that went on in the sub-continent was mindboggling. People have very short memories.

He'd caught and controlled the ball before the ball came in contact with the ground, and it was still in his possession. They were talking about that issue on Fox Sports and according to the laws of the game, it was a fair catch. So there's one decision that the Indians got in their favour.
