It could have been solved diplomatically ages ago but the forces that be thought they could destroy Russia by staging a proxy war through Ukraine. Who would have thought Russia would just hunker down a winter or two to see the opposition out...must be the first time in history they have done that.

It could never have started and that’s the point, it was started by a dictator, the one Trump is backing.

I know this is a sidetrack from ride on Lawnmowers and you do this because of your small yard but

1) Putin is democratically elected, he won 101% of all votes at the last election so you know the Russian people must be extra happy with his performance.

2) Nato pushed the Ukraine into that war. Russia didn't want to lose the stronghold of the Black Sea as it would make them fundamentally weaker with no navy presence.

3) Trump doesn't want to fund wars, it has always been his mantra, look at this video from last week.

I can understand the POV that the support isn't an unconditional blank cheque. And I don't know what they're providing in comparison to other countries. And I agree that they should try and hold elections, not sure if that's possible whilst being invaded though. The thing about Trump though is the language he uses and willingness to say it publicly.
