Ridiculous odds

This mornings newspaper has Essendon at a ridiculous $2.30 for the flag. Next is Carlton and Melbourne at $9.00
Biggest odds are $101.00 for Fremantle.

Someone has bet $800 on Sydney to make the eight. If they make it he gets $848 back, a profit of $48 which he has to wait 9 months to collect!!!!

I think that bet was on Essendon to make the finals and not the Swans.

Yep they're $11 for the flag and $1.45 for the final 8, which is just under 1-2 in the old language.

There's a huge gap between the favourites and the equal second favourites in that market ... there's surely some good value there for the astute overlay punter who doesn't happen to think that the Dons are a lay down misere.

I find it hard to believe that an AFL premiership market could be so top-heavy before the season starts. If I was still punting I would probably risk Essendon and back the next few chances.

Actually, Brisbane sounds like the big value on the figures quoted in this thread. Haven't seen the full market. I don't really fancy Carlton. Melbourne could be close to a flag.

Yeah ... if I was a punter I'd be looking at Brisbane and Melbourne.

What was the price on St.Kilda? They could be the bolter.

I think we were paying $11 for the flag and were outright 5th favourite.

A little too short in my opinion but I won't lie and pretend that the public actually rating the saints for once doesn't make me feel good.

Not that we deserved to be rated after this years debacle.

I agree, Sainter. Those odds are a bit skinny for a bolter. I would have thought maybe $20 would have been worth it. But not $11 or $12 or whatever it is.
