Hey guys,

Wel played tonight - bloody unlucky, if a few calls had gone your way and you'd kick a bit straighter, you would've knocked off one of the flag favorites. Still a loss, but you're well and truly on the up.

Anyways, Riewoldt, I like him, good player, loves his passion.

But has he always played the way he seems to have lately?

He's not a huge unit, but it seems as though he spends an awful lot of time in the goal square, having the footy bombed onto his head. Rarely ever seems to lead at the footy, or make repeated leads?

Is that the case, or just in the couple of games I've seen?

I thought he was much more mobile when he won the Coleman, is my memory up the creek...

His playing like a slob, just wants to sit in a hole and have the ball kicked on his head, hi 2010 he did everything, he lead at the ball, took contested marks, running back with the flight marks, he did everything, this year he's been absolutely shocking.

I absolutely HATE it every time I see him pointing in the direction he wants the ball but NEVER leads there, just waits for the high ball to come on and then that's it.

Needs to add a couple more strings to his bow otherwise he's only ever going to be remembered as a decent Forward at the end of his career.:mad::mad::mad:

honestly i'm bewildered as to what has happened to him, he may draw the best defender(s) but has not been useful apart from a couple of taps.

i know riewoldt is our best forward, hes a proven player but right now he needs to be dropped. he is just deplorable, not interested, soft, playing behind his man, its just so frustrating watching him, knowing of what he is capable of. we smashed essendon by 15-20 inside 50s tonight, if vickery and riewoldt were showing last years form we would have blown essendon away by 5 goals

The only way to get through it is through workrate like his cousin. Make multiple leads and give the defender the run around. I also think we are kicking it in the air inside forward 50 way too much and he's resigned himself to the fact. The forward 50 numbers confirm this fact. If he leads, they should honour the lead.If not, look to someone who is leading or in space.

I just feel sorry for the poor bugger the way the ball gets to him. Bugger all opportunity to get it. Tackles, knocks on, shepherds etc

But you, clown, want to drop him. Embarrassing post, clearly a troll, or a 10 year old crying after a loss.

He constantly gets his groins iced up. Must be something to the OP whispers.

Still, that doesn't mean he can't make a lead or 2. All he does is call for the ball to be plonked on his head 1 vs 3 and he can't take a mark anymore. Constantly fumbles and is a shadow of what he once was.

Also isn't Riewoldt in our leadership group?

Seriously the man has gone backwards since the end of 2010, drinking to much of his own bathwater and thinks he can just sit in a hole and jump on everyone's head.

REALITY CHECK RIEWOLDT - FORWARDS NEED TO LEAD.

Can't figure out why he always trys to wrestle his opponent Travis Cloke style, when he's just not that type of forward. I'm always sitting there yelling for him to get on his bike, but nothing. Also looks slow at ground level too. OP rumours perhaps?

Walker And Tippett both played like this at times last year.

It can't be a coaching directive, surely?

Midfield has to shoulder some of the blame of they just keep bombing it long, but if the forward refuses to lead towards them, there isn't much else they can do.

I love Hardwick, but I wonder if maybe Riewoldt is confused about his role?

I can honestly say, with the utmost confidence that the current situation solely sits on Riewoldts head, every single time we get the ball through the midfield Riewoldts first and only instinct is to point to one the pockets, and then never ever even lead.

I've been a massive support of Riewoldts, have stuck up for him in every single thread for the past couple years, but enough's enough.

Get back to basics Riewoldt because your selfish attitude is costing your team mates wins.

yeah, I dont know why the heck he rarely leads like charging straight up the ground......occasionally he squirts out to the boundary on the lead...2-3 times a game

Not a chance in hell that he's 100% fit.. Operations post season and a limited pre season can't have helped.. He's lost mobility and speed for the moment.
He will be back.. Anyone remember Brian lakes season last year?

Half the problem I feel is how much he loves a goal. He can't kick goals from 50 as a general rule and leading often takes him out of range. He needs to realise how much more valuable he is to us when he is leading!
