In another thread (Fergus Watts), I raised the idea that Riewoldt might go better in the midfield where he doesn't need to kick for goal so much. This would allow him to use his run, kicking ability and marking to set up for our forwards, and allow us to add somebody like Watts into the forward.
Somebody argued the fair point that:
I argued in response he didn't need to be in the clearances to play midfield, but could be used just for run and marking there.
At any rate, it seems Ross Lyon (right on cue for the discussion!) DID play Roo in the midfield for most of the Collingwood match! How do people think he went? What indication did his performance give of how he'd go if he stayed there? Personally, I thought he did alrightish, not terrific, but there was a bit of potential there. Your thoughts though?

Thank God you're not coaching. Roo may seem fast when he's got a lumbering CHB on him, but playing him on the ball would rob him of his greatest strengths - leading and marking - and expose his greatest weaknesses - speed and agility (as I say, he has loads of both, but not at ground level when compared to elite midfielders).
