thats 15s for 100m, very sluggish![]()
i know collingwood were interested in him but didnt take him because they thought he was too slow but he runs a 3.1 20m sprint which i think would be average to top in terms of speed for people his size
mare ur an idiot - the 20 m test is taken from a standing start so obviously he is not going to run every 20 m at 3 secondsthats 15s for 100m, very sluggish![]()

he would be as quick as schultz and petts

Why
Do you understand the breakdown of sprinting
initial acceleration, secondary acceleration and metabolic stiffness transition
3.1 is about spot on for someone approaching the elite levels.
Someone like big Plugger would be quicker over the first 10 than a 100 meter Olympic Champ then he would fade and fade fast. The sprinter will gain rapidly. From a static start athletes increase velocity due to a rise in both stride length and frequency, thats the initial acceleration. between 10 and 30 meters velocity continues to rise due to an increase in stride length. So you cannot just multiply 3.1 by 5 to get a 100meter split thats silly

metabolic stiffness transition
I was lucky enough to get to that stage last night![]()

leather wallet has done his job again: take the focus off performance, and focus on the youth.
jay schultz.
cleve hughes.
and now jumping jack riewoldt.
all first round picks, except they were quite late. some look to the future, as in a glance, and then keep the spin going. this yr has similarities to ours in 2005, giving away performance for the experience of youth and getting the priority pick, except you don't get it till next yr (another write off!).
more draftees needed, you need those high picks.
i thought i'd offer some advice considering a tiger supporter did an analysis of our team, named 'deluded tiger fan'.
Big difference between Plapp and Riewoldt, Cogga.yeah its good news. We see another newbie on the big stage.
Lets just wait and see if he doesnt do what another "gunna be the messiah" did.
Take a guess....if he does do what the last one did, he will end his footy career at the team that he played against last week. ANd that iafter 5 minutes in senior footy, relatively speaking, via the stupid saints.![]()

Plapp was an in between player, similar to Daniel jackson, in that he didn't have the height or physical presence to play KP and didn't have the engine to play midfield. His type are a dime a dozen. Starred at VFL level, but wasn't up to it at AFL level.
Now Riewoldt may turn out to be not up to it, and can I see where you're coming from but Riewoldt at least has the height to play KP and takes a contested mark (from what I've heard...I've seen as much of him as you).
LMAO at all the tigerheads (me included) being worked into a frenzy about Plapp a decade ago. How wrong we were. You may end up being right about Jack, you may end up being wrong, it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Reiwoldt has great eye-hand co-ordination and can take one grab marks. He reads the ball well in the air. At the moment his weakness is that like a young Richo he wants to play from behind and wrestle. Gets a lot of his marks holding his man under the ball.
He won't get away with that in the AFL. He needs to move around, get in front, work up to the wing. That is probably why the club have held him back.
I think they might be quietly hoping that he debuts and learns that he can't base his game on contested marking and wrestling. That might inspire him to listen to the coaches and begin working harder around the forward-50.

I think the people who got excited were those who never saw the reserves play! Sometimes excitment and a bit of hype equals a cult figure. I don't think too many people thought he was the saviour - just a favourite cult figure. Nothing quite like screaming Plappppp at the top of your voice as he jumps over a pack and lands before the kick arrives![]()

Would love to see him working a bit harder and playing from in front. As you say, he won't get away with it much at AFL level so he's going to have to change his game. Admittedly he does mark from behind very well, but VFL defenders are not a patch on what he'll come up against this week.
