Players never get involved in direct trades these days.
I hope not. He's improved a lot in the last 18 months and was our only decent performer in our last final.

Yeah I would be loathe to lose him. Very underrated.
One of the best run and carry player at port
We’ve got guys who can gain metres, some by kicking, some by running etc, but Bonner can carry the ball through traffic in defense, and that’s a rare skill. The only player who can do it at our club.
Burton can somewhat but not really through traffic, Burgoyne is good in tight spaces with a sidestep but not as likely to go 15m through congestion.
Houston is more an intercepting player and a runner who can carry but not special in traffic at all.
Bergman has a good sidestep and nice burst, good spatial awareness but not really gonna weave through traffic so much as sidestep run his 5 steps and use it.
Rozee is special at carrying the ball through traffic but he’s in midfield / up the ground.
Farrell is quick, unsure about his ability in tight traffic just yet to bonners level.
Frederick has pretty good ability to run through traffic but can butcher it on the way out, make dumb decisions etc and just isn’t going to make it as a backman due to his weaknesses.
Dbj is quick and loves to run but again, he’s not carrying the ball through congestion regularly.
Spp has some ability in traffic, mostly that’s just size and speed combo rather than a skill. up the field also and nowhere near bonners ability.
Sinn is explosive and a nice sidestep but I’ve seen nowhere near enough to judge his ability in traffic.
Bonner has a knack of being able to be deep in defense, surrounded by players and being able to run it through a gauntlet before getting rid of it.
If he goes we’ve got some great options to come in and replace him (Jones looking to establish himself, Farrell tried back there at the end of the year and so on) they just lack that one special thing he has and we will be a bit worse off for it.

Really want him at Essendon, he and Redman would be an elite rebounding duo.
Was great in the prelim. I really like him and he could definitely fill a need for quite a few clubs.
