Indeed. But I thought we learnt that lesson in 2012?
Trouble was the swim team did well at the 2015 world champs, finished 2nd to the yanks, using the same schedule, after a poorish 2013 world champs, they had 10 silvers and 3 gold there on the same schedule, but the results were better than London and they were lulled into believing that it was the bad boys of London that were the main issue for the poor results, not the schedule.

True.

Lets hope we get it right for the next olympics. Surely we can find a way to have our swimmers peaking for the Olympics in 2020 instead of World Champs in 2019!

Why did it take so long- glad they went against the overrated Campbell sisters thoughts too!

Indeed. As much as we are proud of our athletes for having a crack and feel some of their pain when it doesn't work out, that doesnt mean we should accept poor results. Sports men and women are subject to criticism when they fail as much as they as they are subject to admiration and respect when they succeed.

We have the top end talent when it comes to swimming as evidenced by world records, championships and rankings. However it has gone pear shaped at the last two Olympic games. Too much money is being poured into our swimming programs to just shrug our shoulders and go 'oh well, next time hey?'

This schedule change is an important step in the right direction. It will be interesting to hear what other changes will be made in the lead up to the next olympics.
