The club should really come out and say that they are letting the police conduct their own investigation but believing their boys when they tell then what happened they are satisfied that although the outcome was unfortunate they feel they acted appropriately given the significant provocation.

And that doesn't have to be true at all. First story in the media is the truth. No yobbo is going to front up on Seven claiming to be the person who assaulted Rioli and then scored a black eye from Bolton for the trouble.
