Very sad to learn of his passing this morning, i was obviously way to young to see him play but he was a brilliant player (no one else has kicked an average of 7 goals in one season) and he was simply a brilliant fullfoward. Easily better then a Doug Wade or a Jason Dunstall, and on par with perhaps Peter Hudson and Tony Lockett (and Gordon Coventry) This must be a tough time for South/Swans supporters, having just recently lost Basher Williams, i would like to extend my symphatises to the Pratt Family. The last surviving member of the 33 Swans flag has finally left us.

Yes, very sad to hear

The 150 club just got 50% smaller

I don't think he would have thought that he wouldn't live to see another Swans flag after 1933

Condolensces to the Pratt and Williams families at this very sad loss.

Well, Pratty did pretty well to live as long as he did. Especially after surviving a Phar Lap-style assassination attempt on the eve of the 1935 Grand Final. (Slight exaggeration here, but please, let's not let the facts get in the way of a good story)

South were hot favourites to beat Collingwood in 1935, mainly because of Bob Pratt. The day before the match ... as he was getting of a tram in Prahran ... the champion goalsneak got cleaned up by a truck. He was only slightly injured, but it was enough to miss the Grand Final.

And, with some of the shady characters around The Club in those days ... who knows ... it might have been deliberate. One of John Wren's boys, maybe.

Ah, well. It got us a flag ... so, whatever it takes, eh?

And at least Bob Pratt got to live a long life ... and remained one of the game's great legends long after his retirement.

And now there's another blood-stained angel in the great upstairs.

R.I.P.
