RIP Dick Pratt.

Ive had the most amazing 27 years watching my beloved Blues....People like you have mad our club what it has been and thankfully what it will be...

Thank you Dick from the bottom of my heart...You saved our club and i will never forget that!

Sad Day for all Carlton fans but you will always live within the inner sanctum of the CFC...

Sticks74!

Any supporters manage to catch a glimpse of SLF's bitter, deranged, hate filled, pathetic thread about Pratt on the North Melbourne board? The guy thinks he is some sort of moral crusader. Hilarious to see his bitter comments about someone (The great Dick Pratt) who actually achieved great success in his life, which is something SLF will never do in his pitiful, hate filled existance.

Hope you read this SLF.

I have requested the introduction of a new private sub board where true Blues fans can go and discuss tactics, opposition whatever they like without anybody else prying. We intend it to be called 'The Dick Pratt Memorial Board'.[/quote]

thats a great idea ODN, hopefully the head people can agree to this ...
jeez ever since i heard the news i got the biggest sinking feeling:(... thank god he left a winner

RIP Dick.

Condolences to both his family and those close to him.

very sad day.:(

Thank you for everything you have done for the Carlton Football Club.
The club and its supporters are forever in your debt.:thumbsu:

SLF is a lowlife, who has a permanent chip on his shoulder. He obviously has issues & he comes onto BF to vent. No doubt his bitterness towards Dick Pratt emanates from his own feelings of inadequacy.

It is one thing to subscribe to the 'tall poppy' syndrome, it is another to dance on someone's grave. In my mind SLF has no cred on BF & if he ever finds his way onto our board he will be told to leave & banned if he doesn't.

A very sad day for our beloved footy club. My thoughts go out to all his family and friends.

Vale Richard.

Official Statement by the Carlton Football CLub

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/season2008/newsarticle/tabid/4311/newsid/75847/default.aspx

Richard Pratt, whose unswerving commitment to the Carlton Football Club as a player, sponsor, director, president and patron spanned nearly 60 years, and whom history will unquestionably record as the man who saved Carlton, has died after a long battle with prostate cancer.

He was 74.

Richard’s presidency of his beloved Blues lasted just 499 days. But few club presidents before or since could justifiably lay claim to having achieved more in office, or of making such a profound imprint on a place and its people.

Carlton President Stephen Kernahan, the key figure who somehow convinced “The Cardboard King” to take on the job in February 2007, has conveyed the sympathies of the entire Carlton Football Club community to Richard’s devoted wife of 47 years Jeanne, son Anthony and daughters Heloise, Fiona and Paula.

Kernahan said that Carlton was forever indebted to Richard for having delivered the once-great sporting institution from the darkest days in its otherwise illustrious 145-year history.

“He made things happen at this Club – giving inspiration, leadership and above all else – belief.

“Even now I feel like I’m still holding the fort for him,” said Kernahan, who assumed the presidency from Richard when the latter stood down in June last year.

“It’s a very sad day for the Carlton Football Club family. Dick Pratt was the man who saved Carlton. There’s no doubt about it.

“He’s as true a Carlton bloke as you will get and what he did for our club in its time of need, when he had other important things in his life and didn’t have to do it, showed his love for Carlton.

“All I can say is that when Dick became President, it was as if everyone at Carlton came out of the hailstorm and into the sunshine. That’s how we all felt.

“February 9, 2007 will be remembered as one of the most significant days in the long and proud history of our Club, it was the day it was announced that Richard Pratt was the new President of the Carlton Football Club.”

It is in his role as President of the Club that Richard will be best remembered, but his contribution is far greater than that. Originally a player with Carlton’s Under 19 and reserves teams; he also served on both the Carlton Football Club and Carlton Social Club Boards and of course supported the Club in numerous ways for many years including sponsorship.

At the time of his death he was the Patron of the Carlton Football Club.

nice work Cranium...

my feelings exactly.

My most heart felt condolences to the Pratt family.

I think that the people who have been persecuting him over the past 2 years should come out and tell the truth about why they dropped the case against this great Australian because it will clear his name and allow people remember him without that cloud over his name.

He came from nothing and was always willing to give back some of what he made to those who needed.

He was a selfless man who gave with his whole heart.

R.I.P Richard Pratt. Great human being, Great Australian and a great Carlton supporter... you will be missed very much, but your legacy will continue for a very long time.

Goodbye Mr. Pratt.

Tens of thousands of my Blue brothers and sisters today will be deeply saddened over your passing.

You were the leader who took our great club from the burning flames of destruction and set us back on the path of rightful greatness.

Although most of the Blues family never met you, we shared the soul enriching experience that is being a supporter of the most successful club in the land.

I will never forget your commitment to our club and you will always be loved in the heart of a true Blue.
