There is no words I can say or type that can summon the depth of feeling and graditude i feel towards Richard, not just as an generous benefactor and past president of the Carlton Football club, but as a human being as a whole.

His whole life story was beautiful and poetic, and you know, I feel so privildged that such a great and generous human being was once president and passionate supporter of my football club.

Richard, I will bless and cherish the memory of you always, and us Carlton fans, and Australians will love and remember you always ...

I am deeply distressed at your death, but also I am rejoycing at the memory of your memorable and beautiful life ..

RIP Dick Pratt

Thanks Dick Pratt. When the chips were down and the mighty CFC was on it's knees, you were the one who stood tall and resurrected us!

RIP.

RIP Dick :(

On that day that Juddy and Ratts hold up that 17th cup, we will all know that it was you who got us there.

A life that gave so much to so many, a truly great Australian.

My condolences to the Pratt family at this time.

We'll miss you mate, I thank you for all you did as the saviour of the club I love.

Cheers Dick.

Dick was a Carlton man through and through and in every sense. May his spirit live on and continue to remind us what it's really all about.

RIP Ryszard. Your legacy as the man who saved Carlton will live on for the rest of the club's History. They should immortalise you in bronze at Princes Park.

I think Dick Pratt was a good man. He did some things he shouldn't have, sure, but gee he did a lot of good. Chancellor of a university, benefactor to the arts, charity, you name it.

And, of course, what he did for the old dark Navys was fantastic, and will not be forgotten by anyone who follows the club.

Well played, Dick.

Full marks for posts like this one from opposition supporters. A few of these easily out-weigh any ignorant rants in other places. Much appreciated. :thumbsu:

I know this is a thread praising Mr Pratt but it is angering me how many people in the media and political scene are coming out now with such good things to say about Dick after going missing or bagging him for years

Gunman, when i see stuff like that i just put it down to the explanation that i use whenever i see similar behaviour - most people are ****ed.

If people only knew even half of what Richard Pratt had done for people in this country they'd be blown away.

Stuff like paying out of his own pocket for a massive bronze sculpture in israel commemmorating the australian light horsemen. It was many hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It's hard to imagine his contribution to our beloved football club ever being matched by a single individual, but to remember him as a great Carlton benefactor is to sell the man well short. He was a great Australian, and a great human being.

RIP Richard Pratt.

RIP Mr Pratt ,I can't thank you enough for saving our club.

Ill definitely be wearing the black armband for our permanently . If it brings recognition to a great man, and what he did for our club im in for it.

Many condolences to the Pratt family and Richards closest friends.

Richard, you have given the Carlton Football Club and many more other people so much joy throughout your life. Through your generosity and hard work, you have touched so many people in more ways than you could imagine.

It's tough knowing that the Great Man that put our club back in business wont be around to share in our greatest moment, but you will always be in our memories forever.

Words can not be written on how thankful I am to you for what you have done for MY/ OUR Club. Every time I look at our jumper, I know I will honour and thank you for allowing me to do that.

Rest In Peace Richard Pratt, a place you so richly deserve to be in.

Flipping that around I'm just relieved people, no matter who are focusing on the good things. It's easy for people to say 'yeah he did good things but what about... blah blah blah...' but thankfully they haven't.

Have also requested that this be put under the Carlton name in place of Kreuzer sponsor blurb ... at least temporarily.

My deepest sympathy & condolences to the Pratt family & extended family at Visy, the Pratt Foundation & the Carlton Football Club for the sad loss of Richard, a great Australian.

I am still very saddened by this sad news that is why it has taken me over 24 hrs to post on this thread.

Richard Pratt was an amazing Australian I always admired from afar having never had the priveledge of meeting him.

I admired him for enriching the lives of people less fortunate & enriching the lives of our greater community through his generous philanthropy.

But most of all I admired him for his passion for the club he loved & for restoring faith, pride & belief to our Mighty Blues.

His legacy at the Carlton Football Club will live on forever

No: 17 will be dedicated to you Sir !!!!!!!

In honour of your generosity and vision, you will be sadly missed
