Kevin Taylor, the creator of Footystats, passed away on Wednesday, at the age of 83. His Footystats books were essential reading. He also wrote The Sydney Swans Complete History 1874-1996.

Very sad to hear that. I was lucky enough to have a few dealings with Kevin over the years; he was an absolute gentleman.

I second that, Daics. Very sad to hear this news. Kevin was a wonderful guy and absolutely loved footy. His passion for footy stats and the game in Sydney was unsurpassed.

Terribly saddened to hear this.

Kevin 'was' football in Sydney during the much darker days of the 80's and early 90's.

He used to have a 15 minute slot on the top rating 2GB rugby league coverage (they would devote the first hour from midday to the VFL, Rugby and Soccer) which in the pre internet pre pay TV era was manna from heaven.

I also had a copy of his Footystats book that he published in the 90's which weighed a ton!

We take for granted the coverage the game gets in Sydney these days but for those old enough to remember the bad old days Kevin was an absolute godsend.
