Swore like a trooper, how he never let one slip on air is amazing.

'****** West Coast make the ****** Grand Final and ****** Malthouse won't answer any ******* questions. Who the **** does he think he ****** is?'

Unforgettable.

Ring a ding ding.

I know he was a Collingwood man, but I can't believe MEB_ never told us Lou Richards was her grandfather....

Condolences to his family and friends.

Condolences to the AFL and Collingwood families.

He may have been a Pie but he was someone that you grew up watching, admiring and couldn't help but like. More than Collingwood he was the embodiment of what the media used to be like. The lovable larikin who cared more about the game than what went into his pocket.

Absolute legend. Thanks for the memories.

RIP Lou, loved watching you on the tele when i was a young ankle biter growing up, the handball comp on Sunday's was something I'd hang out for each week, i hope he is elevated to legend status by the AFL now, deserves it for his dedication to our great game.

I had to go over the list twice to make sure that he wasn't. That has to be one of the great oversights of the game. When there are articles covering the pros and cons of Wayne Carey and Gary Ablett Sr being elevated.... They were great players but he's a legend in every sense of the word for his role as a premiership captain of Collingwood, the 250 games and his above and beyond services to the game of football. That's a very bloody simple decision.

For those who want to delve into "but he was a good not an all-time great player debate..." Consider this fact. Lou was their premiership captain of their 1953 premiership team. That's 64 years ago this year. They've won just three since. The so-called great Collingwood Football Club. With all of their resources, including a period where you could literally buy a premiership, have won just three since he led them to one. Oh and he was a rover who led his team in goal kicking three times.

I understand why he hasn't been granted Legend status in the Hall of Fame and know his case will be pressed in the wake of his passing, but I ask the question, if any media personality is to be elevated to that status who would get it before Lou?

There are more than a couple of current media personalities that think themselves legends of the game, not one of them would be as deserving as Lou. Just get it done AFL ffs, well overdue.

Watched WOS from the early 60's with Lou, Jack, Bob, Bruce Andrew, Gentleman Jim Cleary, Neil Roberts, etc
The footy panel was a must watch on Sunday. Very funny stuff.

There is one great thing the Carlton Football Club did for Lou, it was to nominate him for AFL Life Membership.
Something his own club shamefully couldn't/wouldn't do.

At a time where there was no shortage of larger than life characters in the football world ( Jack Dyer, Bob Davis, Ted Whitten, to name just a few) Louie stood head and shoulders above them all despite his diminutive stature.

As much as he played the clown he was the consummate professional and I don't recall any other individual who has one more to promote football in this town from the early 60's until the late 80's.

He was a cheeky bugger who was loved by the whole football world.

Louie was a great football commentator who always remained professional and unbiased in his calling of games unlike some of the amateurs we have calling games today.

I loved watching his work on shows such as League Teams and world of Sport on 7
as well reading his always highly entertaining columns in the Sun from a very young age. I also have fond memories of him doing things like jumping off the St Kilda Pier in the middle of winter, scrubbing the steps of the Collingwood Town Hall and carrying Mick Nolan on his back down Errol St in Nth Melbourne after one of his outrageous football predictions failed to come true.

Of course, Lou was also the original 'Kiss Of Death' in the Sun, almost had forgotten that one.

Condolences to his loved ones and also to the Collingwood Football Club on the passing of a true Legend of the game. There will never be another Lou, the so called big names of the football media of today pale into insignificance in comparison.

League Teams... compulsive viewing as a young footy fan in the early '80s. Jack, Bob... and Louie. It was the best way to find out about the team selections in those days, without waiting for the papers the next morning.
Probably my favorite memories of Lou. The banter between him and Jack Dyer... Bob trying to keep some sort of order... Good times. Footy was still pure then.

Part of the greatest football family dynasty. 1200 games by 3 generations(Silvagnis may one day challenge this but a big ask)

Had a personality which you no longer can find.

Thanks for your humour, wit & entertainment

RIP Louie

My memories of the great man was the dreaded run to the shops to grab the paper on Friday mornings to get all the weekend footy news and teams then to come to Lous tips ..Even if we were top of the ladder and playing Fitzroy Lou would still tip against us ..lol

Loved watching Lou on World of Sport and listening to his commentating. I enjoyed reading about him following up on his dares when his predictions failed- all good fun. Mick Nolan demanded to Lou to 'be there' after Lou said that he would carry Mick up and down Errol St if the kangas won. Good times.

I met Lou in the early 1990's as I was walking out of the Carlton social club after I purchased a membership; Lou turned up to speak at a luncheon. Friendly and a great person.

RIP Lou.

A great innings by one of the great characters in our game. We don't have too many left these days and certainly none at Louie the Lip's level.

RIP little champ.
