Never said he didnt have potential so calm down girls. He finished last year solidly however I would never do that much research on a Carlton drafted player.

I was simply posting that the photo posted has absolutely nothing frightening about it, it's a typical ruck duel. If he was jumping 80-odd cms up then it probably would be, but he's not.

Grigg could be a nice bet

but would like to look at the second year players that have still able to win the award!!

I agree big time with you mate

Kreuzer wont be rucked this year, isnt a genuine forward yet and is way too short. Ditto Cotchin without a preseason.

With N Ablett gone Tommahawk should get plenty of opportunity if he stays fit.
They sure seem to rate Pettard.
Leuy will play ahead of McDonald = big chance.
Gumby looks to be way ahead of Hansen IMO, rate him highly and is a huge lad already.
Hammer should be shorter odds than Grigg and is great value.
Anyone surprised by Jacko @ $26 ?......seems a very cosistent type but will he able to crack a midfield spot?

Watched the Bummers train and Jetta was very impressive......looks VERY good value @ $41.
He is very fit & fast, skills are great and he has football nous.
Should not be too hard for him to get a regular spot in that midfield.

Hampson is still a "sapling" with his build and an inexperienced ruckman going up against Sandilands who is 7 foot tall. Yet he's palmed the ball down after getting his hand to the ball at what appears to be about 9 to 10 feet off the ground.

It's Hampson's reach that is frightening. ;)

Exactly right General....In person, hammer looks quite massive, especially compared to Aisake and Setanta....IMO hammer is more on par with Hacklands build...and I think hammer has grown a few cm's since the draft because he seems to be towering over Aisake (who's listed height is 201cm).

From Carlton possibly Grigg or Armfield. :thumbsu:

Armfield is NOT eligable for the rising star as he is too old!!!

If I was a betting man, I'd put $50 each on Grigg and Hammer....I would even put a lazy $200 on Kreuzer. I have a hunch that as soon as he gets the feel for the game, he will rip up his competition in the forward line. Regardless of his body size (he is still 95+ kg's which is quite heavier than most) he has the speed, the engine, the height, the hands and the silky ground skills to do some damage. Just because we haven't seen him play with the big boys of the AFL, I still think his smarts will come good and adapt quickly to this fast paced game! I have seen a lot of his Knights games, and this kid is a quick learner! - Bookmark it. :thumbsu:

Grigg would need to find a regular spot first to have any hope of winning. Considering the personnel in front of him, it's going to be a tough ask.

TBH I think our best hopes are Hampson and Jackson. If Hampson has a breakout year in the ruck, it'll help our midfield immensely and our results will reflect that. As for Jackson, like Grigg he also needs to get a regular gig first. But if his effort on Harvey last year is going to be the norm, we could be on a winner there.

Kreuzer probably won't get enough game time or exposure to key positions in his first year. But time could make a fool of me.

It's strange for such a young team that we don't have more candidates for this, but most of our young guys so far have been thrown in the deep end and have now played too many games. With N Ablett gone I would expect the Tomahawk to take over.

You're right about the game time re: Grigg and Jackson....Even though Ratts has stated that Kreuzer will only play a limited amount of games, I still believe my hunch that he will play more games than what's expected!

Matty is a long term prospect, but so is/was Gibbs, and he played all 22 games in his first year....so why not do the same for Matty? I think Kreuzer will play 15-18 games!

If Dale Thomas can get a game, I think Matty will too!

Kreuzer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Thomas
