Hard to believe they didn't in hindsight. He was the Vic Metro MVP so it's not like he wasn't staring them in the face either.

A bit stiff, I thought he was out sick for the start of the seaon and then struggled to get his form/fitness up to an AFL level. I suspect he'll still be good long term.

Hard to tell is my point, as he's barely been able to get on the field in 2025. Murph is out to a massive head start though, and I hope he continues to pull away.

I think there's a load of seemingly worthy players this year and not really fussed who wins (without paying any attention to the numbers, I would have assumed it was Ashcroft's to lose), so please indulge my annual whinge that the voting system is garbage, it pretty much throws anything that happened before July out the window.

Murphy Reid's game (and especially his third quarter) against Geelong in Round 1 is one of the most impressive debuts of a previous year's draftee as I can remember and I doubt anyone outside of Fremantle or Geelong supporters (maybe Supercoach fans) would remember it now.

Just do 5-4-3-2-1 votes for the best five eligible performances for each round. Avoids inflating the candidacy of players who did nothing in the early rounds and finished hot. It'd be a more interesting/exciting count and ultimately it ensures a worthy winner.
