I would be absolutely devastated if we lost Rivers or Thompson at the end of the year :( If one did leave it would be to go back home not money as a driving force imho, and there would be nothing we could do to stop that.
Our midfield is Yze, Bruce, Green, TJ, Thompson, McDonald, Heff, Read, Godfrey, McLean and Sylvia (still developing). Of those that would give us a good trade return and give us salary relief I'd be prepared to let TJ go but only for the right deal. But we are still a way off 100% of the cap so it shouldn't be a problem this year.

I heard on the radio today that Ade are chasing Rivers and Thompson both of them out of contract and they said they would want 250-300 thousand next year. And Ade are prepared to pay that and more for Rivers. With Bruce and Robbo also out of contract next year maybe a couple of more not sure. We might have to let somone go I really hope not. I think that Rivers and bruce we must do everythink to hold on to them and even thompson so if we had to get rid of one i would say Robbo but hopefully melb has more money than i think they have.

Rivers and thompson are top qualtiy players - IF, and I emphasise IF, it came to a choice between either of these and Robbo, I would let the inconsistent but enigmatic Robbo go.

Robbo is red and blue through and through and remember he won our best and fairest last year!
Bruce will def sign..... as will rivers and tommo.
Have faith!

i wouldnt want to have any of the 4 unsigned players to leave.
rivers is going to be a future star of the competition provided he is not hit with big injuries.
tompson is another that has shown much promise, a great year til injury and will continue to impress next year im sure.
bruce is reaching his prime years now so would be very disappointing to see him leave, his best footy is still to come.
and robbo is a real exciting player that can often give the team the spark it needs to pick up. also is totally devoted to melbourne and puts his body on the line week in week out.
couldnt get rid of yze, is an experienced player and will be the first melbourne player to reach 300 games. if you think yze isnt commited to the MFC you obviously didnt see the elimination final this year, he was simply brilliant.
and would be very disappointing to see jonno go after we have persisted with him so long, all he needs is a injury free pre-season, and he will go far.
i hope we can keep the team as is cause we have a good blend of experienced and young players at the moment. im looking forward to maybe seeing adam fisher get promoted to the melbourne team after winning the rookie of the year award in the VFL.
