That 2nd half just papers over the big cracks
The experienced players seriously do not GAF at the present time
Put a couple on the LTI list and go for 2 spots in the Mid Season draft
Play kids and tank for pick #1 or #2 and split it (for a later 1st and a 2027 1st)
Tory Dickson needed as goalkicking coach
FMD Robey is a stud
Looked a few very sore blokes out there (2MP, Duz, Redders) would play Vigo and Tsatas next week if 2MP isn't 100%
Jayden looked lost - Gresh will lift for Dreamtime game
Too slow, can't tackle and don't hit the first option "Too much finessing" (Tommy Hafey)
Jayden looked really lost when he found himself in the middle of the ground with options streaming ahead of him.

His pressure in the forward fifty was okay and he set up two of our pathetic 8 goals, unless I'm misremembering.

Nguyen is not an AFL level player I'm afraid. He tries hard but just doesn't have any weapons.

The club is living in the realm of irrelevancy.
Not sure we will be any good for years.
Keeping Merrett has proven to be a mistake as we are just treading wate.
The club will implode if we lose next week.
Again.
We are so boring to watch.
Caddy, robey, kako are fun but who else?
Freo have Bolton, Reid, Jackson, treacy, Voss, young, Frederick, Dudley who are fun to watch
Do you think, if we now had Hustwaite and a first round draft pick, that we would not be treading water? We're in a rebuild. Keeping our heads above water, with moments of drowning, has been our lot and will be for some time to come.

Does that make Brad our Mark Neeld?

Given the work that’s gone on behind the scenes to get Dodoro out and replace the S&C department, probably more like Roos. The organisational culture reset that hadn’t happened looks to have finally happened. Now it’s still going to take time to actually get a significant part of the playing list where it needs to be.

Bad goal kicking and even worse umpiring in the first half took away any resemblance of competivness.
Why women are allowed to umpire mens games is still beyond me.
The next 3 weeks will be VERY interesting. Think we've shown enough to be optimistic.
The ‘woman’ part of this is completely irrelevant. She made mistakes but so did the others umpiring with her.

Problem female umpires have is that it’s much more obvious who made the call than when anonymous male umpire number 3 makes a call they don’t like. So people target them.

Off-field I think we'll look back and be VERY grateful for what BS has put in motion. On-field is a different story as they improved every year under PR.

Slightly different timeline, Roos took over in 2014; Melbourne drafted Hogan & Viney in 2012, then Salem and Harmes in 2013 (Harmes is a big competitor even if limited) with a massive result in 2014 of Petracca, Brayshaw and ANB.

They’d kind of hit rock bottom when they brought Roos in, and without actually checking I suspect they’d already replaced their list management team.

Scott is probably around the 2014 Melbourne now where he’s got a couple of years worth of the new regimes draftees in the door and we’re at the ‘worst’. Injuries don’t help either, we’re missing some pretty decent players that will be part of the future.

I think next year we’ll be a bottom 4 tier side again, but then after that you’ll have a 3rd year Robey / Sharp / Farrow starting to really drive the club forward.

Our list is crying out for top end talent - the dumbest thing we could ever do is split one of the few top pics we have had access to for years for two crap generic pics. Why? We will have an additional end of first round anyway due to the new rules we have all clubs need those top pics the most.

Best thing imo would be to get another big haul of draft picks this year and prioritise anyone with a serious competitive streak. Head into next year with a group of a dozen or so ultra competitive kids who hate losing drafted over the previous few years.
It'll be nice if some of the draftees have some serious toe, we're so damn slow which doesn't help things

Of course we will be no good for years. Your man Adrian has only been out the door for two years.
You know he was no good.
What else do you expect?
3 years ago I said said we would be at least 8 years away if it went right.
You need to stop looking at it like a disgruntled supporter.
You know the reality.
There is probably another two years before we can get a real handle on what Rosa is building.
Let’s face it, Fremantle have hardly been an overnight success.

The reality is this is the first time we’ve ever actually attempted to rebuild correctly, so it’ll take time. I just hope the club doesn’t take shortcuts and legitimately bottoms out for a year or two, rather than trying to bounce up prematurely - which I think is what Welsh was planning this year with keeping Merrett. Will be interesting to see if he intervenes again (would be unintelligent).

2020 was forced upon us, and we have never had access to top / premium pics since McGrath, who is not what we had hoped for at pick one.
As long as we see progress with the kids, I think it will be watchable (sort of).

However, if Brad struggles to teach team defence going forward (which it seems quite obvious that he has) I don’t see him as a long-term coach.
That said, I’m starting to feel as though he will coach the year out, as they will be able to justify the team’s lack of performance as a transition to youth (even though for the most part they are more accountable than the senior players).

I agree but we are 1 and 9 and play a boring game of footy.
Look what Melbourne have done compared to us.
We continuously pull the wrong reign
When was the last time a list with comparable age and inexperience did the things you're wanting to see us do? It just doesn't happen

Freo are another level of slick but that challenges the Suns game for the second most complete performance of the year barring missing some absolute ****ing sitters.

Stopped them doing some of the things they hang their hat on, played decent passages of the game in our front half and moved the ball with some kind of method and cadence, albeit with some slapstick shit thrown in.

Scott has got selection and preparation completely wrong and I still want his head on a pike but very harsh markers here.

Would be happy to drop Langford, Cox and Caldwell.

Bring in Gresham, El-Achker and Edwards.

One less midfielder means we don't have to run Setterfield on the wing. Durham can take some swings through there to relieve Day-Wicks and Duursma.

McGrath Blakistan Redman
Roberts Reid Farrow
Duursma Merrett Day-Wicks
Gresham Caddy Edwards
Nguyen May El-Achker
Wright Durham Robey

Bryan Prior Parish Perkins Setterfield

Much better balance.

If someone could explain to me the logic of bringing in setters just to park him on a wing on a wet day, that would be much appreciated. Let’s bring McKay back next week and get him on ball.
Don't be silly. This is Essington we're talking about

We'll drop Caddy and play McKay at Full Forward

Don't think this is even remotely close to as complete as the Demons game.
