Tough to pin Guelfi I reckon. In an ideal world he plays 3 or 4 more games at VFL level to regain touch but got thrown in before ready. And he's borderline AFL level at his top
Likewise, we know Laverde is past it, but remember he's the break glass on emergency selection.
Gresham- well forward pressure is OK but at some point you need your forwards to actually hit the scoreboard.

Well I sure as hell didn't expect that. I'm more than happy with that - a real show of effort. There were a few passengers like Guelf, Perkins ... Hobbs was very costly. But man I'm liking some of these kids, and that has to be Caddy's best overall game for us. Also nice to see Calders get back some of his pre-injury form too
Guelfi wasn’t great but he definitely wasn’t a passenger. He had a job on Zorko and he nullified much of his drive off HB.

Tsatas had good moments too. I know I'll cop it for that but I saw it tonight. He will make it.

Roberts is a freak.

Kako just has to keep playing. Keep getting involved. Keep hunting. Goals will come.
I think he isn’t up to it.
I would play him every week now but what is his trait at afl level.
I was pleased he showed vision and kicking ability to hit Robert’s in forward 50

rule interpretations is what ****ing annoys me.. Essendon player has ball knocked loose in a tackle and its holding the ball, happens to Lions and its play on. Happened at least 4 times (Neale x 2, Zorko x 1, Merret x 1)
Bloody vandals.

6 posies in 18 minutes, 1 tackle 2 clearances. If he wasn’t a high pick he wouldn’t be an Essendon whipping boy.
Felt like setterfield, tsatas and a few senior players bit hesitant. Don't want to lose/get dropped whereas the youth just want to compete and seemed to have a license to play as long as each decision is done at 100%.

Bloody vandals.
umpires are there to oversee a game, not control the narrative

we played out of our skin and had an opportunity to take the game deep so no dramas in the loss, we lost. bit the frustrating thing is the interpreation of rules between zones (umpires)

Feel like there is a really nice core building and I think it's becoming really easy to name some players that are fine to be cut loose.

Shoutout to Goldy and Wright. Both big guys stood up as probably the only leaders that kind of did.

Caddy, Roberts and Martin then showed the class and then little moments by others started to follow on.
With Caldwell the grunt out of the middle.

The captains best action was baking Gresh for burning Wright at end of the half, and credit to Gresham he responded to the bake relatively well.

Was not impressed by Zach's game, he's better than that game and his kicking has been horrendous this year.

Guts by Durham to stay on. Love his heart.

Setters I'm sorry is cooked physically. Need the player to replace his role.

Tsatas, I still don't see it but I don't blame the kid, give him 6 games starting, I just want him to have a clean run at it.

I feel like that setup felt more dangerous.
We played a better style of football, maybe the skills allowed it to happen but it was so much better than the chipping style.
The opposition wasn't going at full 100% but I take a lot of positives from that performance.

Also jittery early but I like Johnson in this team, hopefully he gets a good run in the 1s

Bit harsh. Extrapolate that and it's 24 possessions, 4 tackles and 8 clearances which is not bad for a young midfielder.

Understand he doesn't play a lot of match time, but it's also an ask for a guy who's not been playing consistent AFL time to come into a close match in the wet

He had 6 touches in 18 mins, 2 clearances. At that rate he’s getting nearly 40 and 10. His ball winning is an elite trait. His handballing and vision is an elite trait. He can’t kick and sometimes can be defensively lost. He also made a tough tackle that should have been called htb.

You really can’t have more impact in 18 mins, but there isn’t a spot for someone who can only play inside mid alongside setterfeild

Johnson seemed to show good composure in a backline under pressure all night long.
Definitely want to see him in next week, seemed to look a better balance with him there.
started slow and looked a bit off but yes, agreed, composed himself and came into it

I think his floor is taller Matt Crouch and his ceiling is top 5 first possession player in the AFL.

Parish is exceptional at it and Tsatas pretty plainly has him covered at the same stage of his development.

Ridiculous. How many times did they take on the tackle and get stopped, lose the footy and that was ok, but as soon as we did it, that's holding the ball . Fking atrocious!

Still in the game with 3 minutes to go.
Bright future looks so bright. So much to like.
Caddy was awesome. He's gonna be a freak.
Roberts is a little terrier. His composure at this stage keeps surprising me.
Johnson looked like he belongs at the level.
Marto and Merrett were great. Good to see Calders finding his rhythm again.
Fun to watch!
