Does anyone think that any changes will take place against Carlton?

I found Selwoods poor disposal frustrating on the weekend, so maybe him for Butler??

I guess it depends on whether Sampi and Gardiner will be ready. Personally, i wouldn't risk them at home against Carlton. There is nothing to gain.

McDougall was better against Souths, but probably not good enough to warrant a recall.

Thoughts on changes?

Gardiner for Edwards.

Sampi will be given another week I feel.

I don't see the need to risk Gardiner at this stage, he is so crucial for our finals campaign.

Could be the type of player who is the difference in a big final. Therefore why risk him.

Wont really be a risk.He was do back either in the Melbourne game or a week later so he will have 1 extra week anyway.

But he is so injury prone, and it's only Carlton, not exactly a huge danger game.

I think Seaby and Cox are adequate for that game.

We can afford to experiment a bit, without taking the Blues for granted.

Rosa in for Nicoski.

Graham for Hansen maybe - Ghost seems to be carrying an injury and I think it would be good to rest him up a bit for the balance of the season

Maybe rest one of the midfielders with Belter to come in.

If we're going to give McDougall a go this might be the game to do it.

 it don't get no better.

niko was down on the weekend but i'd like him to stay.

i agree that hansen looks injured. the week off would do him wonders.

i haven't really been that impressed with edwards. his first quarter was A+ but he's really fell away since then. looks like he's lacking the defensive part of his game. sampi for edwards.

Good call on selwood, but would we be beter off letting butler get some fantastic foem up in the WAFL? And bring in r jones, or give mcconnel another shot.

But I'd rather drop nikoski, IMO, hes still learning but he does make alot of crucial errors.

Also gardiner for hanson,
embley, gards and seabs rotate CHF with lynch at FF, and with edwards acting as 3rd tall forward, or have the other unused player as the 3rd.

I thought Nikoski was alright on Saturday (barr 1 kick out on the full) Loved the sealer goal he kicked - I was going mental when the umpire signalled full points!

Do not risk Gardy or Samps for this game (IMO)

I reckon if possible keep the same side or bring back Butler for a run or possibly Adkins.

one more thing:

DO NOT FLIRT WITH YOUR FORM BOYS!!!!

This would be the perfect opportunity to rest some of our higher profile players and give them a well deserved rest and let them get over and niggling injury's that any of them may have

Possibly something along the lines of

IN: Doogs, Rosa, Graham

OUT: Hansen, Nicoski, Edwards

And with Beeck returning to WAFL action this week which means he will have had a game under his belt... Possibly even Beeck for Cox :D

I dont think Sampi should automatically get recalled. His form hasn't been the best of late and a run in the WAFL might just reignite his hunger.

Selwood/Nicoski seem to get caught holding the ball alot. I think thats a result of inexperience, but both work hard enough to at least keep their spot.

Unchanged again would be good.

What the bye isn't a rest enough?

I wouldn't make those changes at all. Taking 2 forwards who present all day and replacing them with an inexperienced tall and a forward who hasnt played all year and even at his best, doesn't work hard enough in the forward line.

Worsfold's selections already this year indicates that Doogs isnt tough or hard enough at the contest for the way we play. He needs to get some angry into him.

Never flirt with form... Never.

Port did against Richmond in 03 just before finals and even though they won, they paid the price against the swans in the first week of the finals, as they were cruising.

Bombers in 01 flirted against Richmond in Round 22, losing so that they could control who they played in the first week of the finals. They played Richmond again in the first week instead of playing Carlton. They then belted Richmond again by 70 points after losing to them by 24points the week before, only to go on and lose the GF.

We should ALWAYS play our best side, never flirt with form or underestimate the opposition.

Its just that Hansen has a very important role to play come finals time and i would absoluterly hate for him to get injured and have a chance of missing the finals....

Would just like him to be given an extra week off after the bye for us and gove Doogs a run then bring Ash back in..... Graham has alot of potential well i think he does anyway

Hansen is the only one i would consider giving a rest.

Any other changes i made would be form-based.

Never play around with form, it's a recipe for disaster.

You've got it the wrong way around. Gardiner is not expected until round 16, Sampi will be back.

Sampi and McDougall may come in

If McDougall is in Coaches mind as a player for the finals then the game against Carlton would be a good game to introduce him back into the team, paticularly if Gardiner isnt available till round 16

But i wouldnt be fazed if there were no changes either

Who we gonna drop? Staker and Edwards would be the only candidates.

Good sign for the team you would have to think

IMO, Edwards and maybe Nicoski or Selwood

Be very tough on these boys though as they wouldnt deserve to be dropped

On Saturday Nico disgracefully offloaded the ball when in danger to Juddy who was in worse poo. Selfish play IMO. Should be dropped for that alone.

Edwards can't kick straight. Time to bite the bullet with McDougall and include him even though his WAFL form isn't grand.

Selwood and Nicoski's decision making bothers me. From memory Selwood was running down the wing and had a good lead inside 50, albeit on the flank. He chose to stop, ignore the lead, and kick across the field to a low percentage option resulting in a turnover that allowed Melbourne to gain momentum. Hansen made an identical turnover against Richmond that was the turning point in the game (ie the point where Richmond made a big comeback).

In: Sampi, McDougall
Out: Selwood, Edwards

If Hansen is carrying an injury:

In: Sampi, McDougall
Out: Edwards, Hansen

There is no way that McDougall should be in against Carlton. I saw a replay on Fox Footy last night between Sth Freo and Perth and MCDougall was a joke. He dropped 4 or 5 easy marks and was backing out of contests and the whole second half had about 3 kicks. He is not right. I wouldnt play him til way later in the year. On the other hand Chipper Adkins got 33 possessions and looked not too bad in a team that got beaten by 110 points. Possibly bring Damian in against the blues for Selwood.

Keep Edwards in - The kid is gonna kick a bag soon he is probably the best contested mark in the forward line. Play him in the square and get him one out against someone like Livingston.

I think it was more a bad decision than being selfish. But the kid does do some wonderful things when he's out there, I say leave him in the team. And definately play Edwards closer to goal. He can take a big grab but can't kick from far out.

I agree with this statement - Shouldn't make major changes just for the sake of it or experimentation.

If possible, I'd give Sampi and Gardiner an extra week off.
I think Hanson will be right to go after the mid season break.
The only change i'd consider making is dropping Selwood for Butler or perhaps Atkins or even a Rowan Jones who i hear has been in great form and a leadership group player at the club.
