Last two weeks train ride home has been like a morgue. All Bombers up and about tonight !

But the thing that you want out of a rebuild, young kids being exciting, was on full display. So overall I had a good time.

Melbourne will probably be a harder match up and actually defend, but I'm onboard for this season provided the kids keep showing signs.

This might be the only win we get until we play West Coast, so I'm gonna savour it as much as I can.

Bloody awful game but a win is a win.

The usual suspects were poor in the first half but a win makes everyone look good.

Durham fantastic. Redman played his best game in a while. Caldwell kept working. Reid great recovery, could've gone into his shell after last week but showed real confidence to take some kicks on. Want to see a full game from Saad.

people should be under no illusion that even though it was a win, the same shit show deficiencies were still on show for all to see

Transition defence was non apparent at times with the ease in which they got the ball from FB to wing and beyond without us even having a sniff

I feel like this win is going to potentially paper over a lot of cracks. Port should have absolutely buried us by 3/4 time, it was completely on them that we were still in it. But hoo boy did I still enjoy that last quarter!

Shameful display by Tianjin Energy Systems Football Club, very easy way to make sure the CCP chuck you in a camp somewhere and you are never seen again.

A fair dinkum football club beats us handily tonight, the endeavour was there but we are still poorly coached and a bit haphazard.

I actually think we need to kick the ball out of bounds in the forward pocket deliberately from now on, every ****ing time we try to spot a forward 50 target it pings out the other side for a shot on goal, without fail.

Saw the right signs from the right players to really enjoy the game.

Shout out to some guys who cop it in Shiel, Prior and McKay who after rough starts steadied and held up their end as the guys further up the field did their jobs.

Reid, congrats young man, for all the hard work that was quite the performance.

Shout out to Menzie too, made some good decisions and was cleaner than usual.

Saad, Roberts, caddy, Durham, kako, Bryan are the guys I'd like to see build each week.

Edit- Hobbs too, that's the speed you need to process at, first decision then bang disposal.

Criticisms of some can wait for another day.

That is by far the best Hobbs has ever played.

And in the guts where he belongs.

He got some hot balls in the clinches but his kicking is either comical or doesn’t hurt and he still tries to evade only to get himself into trouble. I’m not nearly as impressed to be honest but he played well enough.

[Just A Tragic]

Port gave us a chance and we took it in the last. Credit to the defensive efforts of the first three quarters to keep us in it. Not pretty. Not dominant. But we didn't let downhill skiers (or any of their guns ) get a run on.

Special mentions for mine outside the obvious:
Reid looking calm and taking first option kicks with confidence for a big lad. If he can stay fit he is our Harris Andrews.

Redman for finding his form to run with purpose, hurt with his tackles and good options by foot. A real barometer for us I reckon.

Draper and Caddy for marking contests i50 in the last quarter. Didn't let them bounce it out and kept the game on our terms when it mattered.

Archie Roberts just looks the goods. I see a young Luke Hodge. Hopefully he is half the player.
