He got some hot balls in the clinches but his kicking is either comical or doesn’t hurt and he still tries to evade only to get himself into trouble. I’m not nearly as impressed to be honest but he played well enough.
He managed to get handballs off which was an improvement, but he still looked like he was being ragdolled any time he was tackled. Doesn't look like he has the strength or power to stand up in or break tackles.

If I'm compiling a list of biggest dogs in the AFL I'm putting Willie Rioli right near the top, always sneaking in little afters
He's a sniper.

Maybe, just maybe, there's life in Hobbs yet. I've always liked the player he's supposed to be but he just wasn't delivering. Maybe he's a slow burner and he's finally catching the pace of the game (and being played in his ideal spot).

Ooorrr maybe it was a flash in the pan game, guess we'll see

im going early to say the losses to the teams in round 1 and round 2 are probably going to push the 8 if not top 4.

On paper not great but at seasons end will be a number those teams did during the year
Would say you are right. Hawks are clearly a top 4 contender and the Crows are now in their 5th year with Nicks and Thilthorpe and Fogarty are looking like a good forward combo to go with Rankine and Rachele.

I really rate what Crows could do this year..

Attacking power, deep midfield, guys with some magic and party tricks, defence looks solid enough.

So you dont think exposing kids to significant roles is apart of rebuilding?

I wouldve thought games is a major part of development
Scott’s job is to win games with the squad required, until finals is out of the question then Scott try’s to piece together next seasons best 22.

Rosa sets the list direction and whether he keeps guys like Shiel.

Selection integrity is imperative for any footy club at any stage of development.

What you are really saying is they are all bad with the ball [emoji24]

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but this is a good stat; we had more of the ball than Port, but we also out tackled them. Same pattern as the Hawthorn game, which bodes well.
We spanked them in ground ball gets and post clearance contested possessions too.
Early last year we had really worked on that area of game but it fell off as season went on (my hunch is the injuries to duursma, parish and hobbs put too much load on merrett, caldwell and Durham).

Hopefully we can see this trend continue for rest of season, from memory hawks started to get on top of these two stats as they turned their season around last year.

Pretty happy with the game, there was skill errors from everyone but if you watch the rest of the league it isn't just this game. There are a LOT of teams in some horrible form at the moment. The biggest take away for me was that players were mostly played in positions that they were suited. It's the first time this year and in a while I have seen it happen, I don't know why but I hope it stays this way.

The 3rd quarter of our game was the worst footy I can recall ever watching- from both teams.
