With so many missed above shoulder high tackles by the scumpires, i'm surprised Walla still has a head. Jelwood would have gotten all of them.
Oh you just reminded me we play the cats and selwood next week. I can't wait for his free kicks.

Not important
There was cheering as well as boos.

The presentation was less than 5 minutes after a close game finished, where some supporters who feel like they got their arse reamed in watching a team they support. Emotion doesn't switch off in an instant and these people were expressing as much.

Personally, I think Bucks misread the booing in his comments, which is quite poor.
I can see how that could be taken.

Daniher, while being good up forward should learn that if he’s going to turn it over in the corridor that it costs us goals
Wasnt his fault.
Myers should have come at the footy, lime they teach you to do in u14s. Instead he stood there like a glacier and allowed the collingwood player a play on the ball.

fair call. haven't seen it on replay yet.

even still, he did it more than once, the first time he straight up missed the target.

Dude, there was 92,000 present and a close game would ensure a big tv audience. This fixture is going nowhere.
That’s not the point I’m making. We won’t lose the day. But we have given a reason for the club presidents of Carlton, Hawthorn, Melbourne etc to get on the phone right now to Gil and say “if they don’t want to respect the day, we will”. Not to mention the media to re open the topic of sharing Anzac Day which they have done over the last 5 years. It’s just stupid mindless behaviour that achieves absolutely nothing.

Cop the fine and release a club statement through the media denouncing the appalling umpiring. So many times noone - not even the players - had a clue what was going on. Skill errors hurt us, but that umpiring fmd.
Was farcical when even Collingwood players stopped expecting a free kick to be paid

Just insane. I can't recall seeing it happen before. The one where McKenna had the ball and just had to rush a kick after 2-3 seconds of nothing was insane.

On to the game. We can match Collingwood. Dominated them from the second half of the 2nd quarter onwards. I was worried about tough pressure games, but we proved today that we can play that way. 164 contested possessions, 73 tackles, 40 clearances (to Collingwood's 29 mind you). That can stand up in finals.
We also had the legs in the last quarter to run out the game. Bring Fantasia in and we win the game.
We took long to adjust to the pressure, but once we did, we were the better team.

Optimistic about what we can achieve this year.
Solid points and good perspective.
I too will remain cautiously optimistic about the rest of the year as we still have room for improvement, mainly in the polish department. We really took the game on today against a damn good side that I dont see as having as much room to improve as we do.

Disappointing loss but Collingwood were the better side.

As for the umpiring, well, it was pretty ordinary and I believe Tony Shaw summed it all up, “the umpires had an influence on the game”. This should never be the case. 3 decisions stuck out for me, Walla’s high tackle that wasn’t paid and then Pendlebury kind of ducked/bowed his head into the Essendon player and was given the free and that holding the ball I think on Phillips and both sides just stopped believing there was an obvious free and it wasn’t paid. Should’ve also been a 50m for Collingwood playing in after an Essendon free kick. I hate 50m penalties but Collingwood was handed a soft one earlier in the day so it should’ve been a square up. Mistakes are ok but obvious mistakes aren’t ok.

Also, the free for holding the man to Baguely that resulted in a goal wasn’t there either so it was really bad umpiring on both sides.

Did wanna say props to bucks for sticking up for his captain and calling out the booing. Obviously we got robbed but the meaning of the day comes before the game. Should be showing Pendles the respect he deserves as a player. Pretty rich for us to get upset when WCE booed Watson yet we do the same for no reason whatsoever.

One bloke who I reckon won't get any credit but did a solid job was Bellchambers. Up against one of the best players in the game and no he didn't win the duel but at least he didn't allow Grundy to dominate and did take some key marks around the ground at times. Anyone that saw Grundy vs Bulldogs a few weeks ago would have seen what it looks like when Grundy really takes over a game and at least we didn't see that today.

Guelfi was great
I can’t agree. Hoskin Elliot soundly beat him in every contest and he couldn’t hold that tackle on Sidebottom that directly resulted in a goal in the 3rd quarter when we had all the run. Also, his hair is shit... but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was simply honouring the 25th ANZAC Day game by donning a 1995 hair-do.
