SA don't have a great record in recent years. Aish, Toumpas, Scharenberg, Trengove, Maye's were all highly rated in their draft year and have amounted to nothing. Even Gibbs has been underwhelming in comparison to the hype in 2006.

That might be a bonus, at this stage we do not have a first round selection.

Jack Lukosius. Key FWD. 194 cm 82kg. South Australia. * Comments copied Callum Twomey.

Jack Lukosius showed why many consider him the early favorite to be 2018 number 1 pick when he kicked 4 goals in his SANFL debut for Woodville West Torrens in a preliminary final earlier this year [2017].It was a performance that showed why so many are excited about him, he's tall, athletic, smart on the lead and a beautiful long kick. He also had a standout game for SA against the Allies during the under 18 carnival. *

Sam Walsh. Mid. 182cm 70kg. Geelong falcons. * Comments copied from Callum Twomey

The Geelong Falcons prospect looks like one of the leading midfielders in his crop. He has a good mix of winning his own disposals and getting them out for his team, but is also nice when in flight and taking the game on with some sharp running. He pushes forward to kick goals, is a nice user of the ball and with some extra muscle on the frame will be hard to stop. Starred for the Falcons on their way to the TAC premiership.*

Izak Rankine. mid/fwd. 178cm 74kg. South Australia. * Comments copied from Callum Twomey

Izak Rankine already looks a star and a likely early 2018 pick after a brilliant campaign as a 17 year old this year. Rankine is a quick classy and talented half forward who also plays through the middle. He lights up games with his exquisite skills and is ultra dangerous around goal. He was named the best player for the under 17 NABAFL All Stars game on Grand Final eve this season and looks a jet already.*

Supposed to be a lot more depth in 18'. Wouldn't mind us trading back into the first round. We're still a couple years away from Kobe Farmer F/S.

Tarryn Thomas. mid 189cm 71kg Tasmania.

Tarryn Thomas has been on the radar for a couple of years. His 2016 season was particularly special when he was named Tasmania's best player in it's under 18 side despite not being draft eligible for 2 more years. The indigenous prospect has good skills and a turn of pace and rarely fumbles under pressure. North Melbourne will access to Thomas under the New Generation Academy Program.*

Ian Hill. H/F mid. 174cm 63kg Western Australia. * Comments copied from Callum Twomey

Ian Hill was ultra exciting at stages throughout Western Australia's under 18 carnival earlier this year, lighting up games with his run and dash. Hill is the type of player to take the game on and has the foot skills to match up with that and make the most of his damaging and line breaking displays.*

I love the draft, but if we end up with an early pick next year, something will have gone devastatingly wrong..
Will do a current top 10, then look for possible second rounders, but as we all know it fluctuates a fair bit. Spargo was top 10 this time last year.

Nick Blakey. mid/fwd. 194cm 75kg Swans Academy/ NSW-ACT. * Comments copied from Callum Twomey

Three clubs will fight for Blakey's services next year with the midfielder able to join Nth Melbourne and Brisbane Lions as father/son prospect [his father john played for the Roos and Fitzroy] and also the Swans as an Academy pick. Sydney appears the early favorite but Blakey will be hoping for more luck with injury next year after a back concern ended his 2017 campaign early. At his height Blakey is considered a utility that can be used anywhere.

Sam Wicks. fwd/mid. Swans academy.

Wicks has played some really good footy for the Swans reserves after earning himself a NEAFL Rising Star nomination and was a member of their losing Grand Final side. A small forward who can play as an outside mid Wicks has speed and endurance and is super competitive.

Bailey Scott. mid 186cm. Gold Coast Academy.

Bailey Scott is a highly talented midfielder who can play inside and outside. Scott is already 186cm , has good speed and excellent endurance and can kick well off both sides. The son of Nth Melbourne and Geelong star Robert he will have the choice of either club or Gold Coast Academy.
